I have to spray the trash can in my room with Bitter Yuck as Bella likes to pull things out and chew on them. She has this
thing for plastic. She finds things even after I hare removed all the plastic I can find. One of her loves is Ziplock bags.

I gave in and moved all the bags into a place she can't get into as of yet.
Hi Sean
Actually that's not a bad idea, still no idea where he got the 12inch ribbon, however he often hovvers around the rubbish bin, he's got a thing lately for trying to chew your laces when you've got shoes on, perhaps I could spray them too.
Their so curious aren't they.
I wonder if the phrase CURIOSITY KILLED THE CAT , was anything to do with our darling Savannah's

We spent that on Mokkun when he was just a bit over a year old. He had bladder stones. The one good thing about it was they were
struvite crystals and a change in diet solved the problem. I think with Mokkun and Tetsu over there short lives I spent $10,000
It could be more as I am rounding the costs. I do miss them.

Yes it soon all adds up to a fair sum. What I wouldn't give to have my old Rags back again, your right, you sure do miss them. It's actually his 3year anniversary today since we lost him, old boy made it to 16, bless him.

I am so glad this made it's way through! It's scary the vet did not find this. I was a bit concerned when you said the vet thought he had Enteritis, as when I googled this it looks like it can be a serious problem and usually has an underlying cause that needs to be treated. But I don’t know anything.... Just my own limited experience. When Moggie was sick, one of the vets we were seeing thought he might have a partial obstruction, and he seemed to be planning on eventually setting up a barium swallow if the repeated rounds of antibiotics he was prescribing did not work, but as Moggie had a fluctuating fever of 103 to 106 for well over a month, and a fever because of an obstruction indicates the GI tract has been damaged and is infected, the other vet we were seeing thought this made no sense, as this is quickly fatal if left untreated. (For this and several other reasons, I now go to another vet) Anyways... based on this, and that the fever you initially mentioned might indicate some damage happened to Vito’s GI tract, I googled what a cats temperature normally is, and it sounds like the 39.2 fever you initially reported is within the range of normal, (up to 102.5 in cats) on the very highest side of normal. Which is good as anti inflammatory stuff can maybe mask an underlying problem??? (I do not have enough experience to have an informed opinion, just trying to tie up what looks like loose ends)

HB wants to eat all the toys he likes, and one of his favourite things is cords and string. So I was always careful to only have these out when I was playing with him and supervising. But then when we were playing with a particular cord he was totally crazy for, I got a phone call, and got distracted for maybe a couple minutes, and when I turned around I was horrified to see the cord toy was much shorter than it had been. I called the vet and gave him some weak 3% hydrogen peroxide to induce vomiting, which did not initially work, (and looking on the internet sounds like this might cause complications and may not be a good idea) Anyways, 3 long hours later, he puked up the long piece of cord he managed to eat...So I do everything I can not to have anything that might be dangerous if he eats it, anywhere he can get at it, though since he has matured and has been able to be out in enclosures and catch real mice, this seems to be less of a compulsion. Hello
Moggiesnewmom
Thanks so much for your reply, yes it is indeed very baffling how they managed to miss the ribbon, I'm just actually off the phone with my vet, having emailed the photo of the offending object.
Vet was so apologetic that the radiographer didn't spot it, who was by all accounts a very experienced guy, however having worked as a vet nursing assistant for 25 years I know that linear foreign bodies are extremely difficult to spot, in this case especially, if it has been pushed against the wall of the small intestine. There was a 5 to 6cm piece of the small intestine showing up as extremely inflamed, the only explanation I see, is that the ribbon didn't show through the intestine due to the way it was sitting in there possibly with the degree of thickening of the intestine wall itself. Luckily no infection was present in the extensive blood work that was done. Hardly slept for nights with the worry.
However the main thing now is that it's out, hoooorah!! One very happy sav mummy.
Could have been very nasty indeed.
Have seen many objects that cats have swallowed over the years, some would make your toes curl, so needless to say, hubby and I spent ages last night, going through the enormous toy box, cutting off all dangly bits on toys, and double checking all the house for potential chewing hazzards. Our 3 other cats don't chew anything at all, but Vito, well he's a different story altogether.
So pleased HB puked up the cord himself, I wonder what goes through their minds at times. Vito, still being a kitten is so curious, and loves to test his adult teeth on anything he can find, including my arms (at 4am every morning, to try get me out of bed.)

If you were a vet assistant for 25 years, you obviously know a lot more about what it all may mean, than my arm chair detective guesswork! (Embarrassed Emoji) Glad it is out and no sign of infection or damage!

No embarrassed emoji required, detective work is sometimes necessary at these times, my vet was baffled that's for sure, honestly I really appreciate your input, through the years, whenever one of my animals has been sick/unwell, my head goes to mush, all sense and sensibility goes straight out the window and the panic set in. When it's your own fur baby I get so stressed. I've always been the same, you guys on here have been fantastic, and helped a lot in what's been a very worrying time. I'm sure there will still be some inflammation going on due to the whole episode, so keeping my boy on a soft bland diet for now, to hopefully aid his recovery. May I ask you, what Does HB & WC stand for, are they shortened names.

It can be totally overwhelming and confusing when a beloved kitty is not well! So I have also greatly appreciated the support and experience shared here. Even if another persons experience isn’t entirely relevant to the situation, it at least helped me get familiar with some of the possibilities. HB and WC are shortened names...I guess sometime I should make a post in the introduction section and explain.
