Possible eye injury

After chasing her for about 10 minutes, we crate her and head on out. She freaked out the first few minutes but a good car ride (5 minues) and she was a great girl. The Vet asked us to use a different door due to her sneezing issues and didnt want to spread it to other pets. She was amzingly nice once the nurse took her out of the crate. Doctor examined her, no fever, gums look good and she is in good health... except she has Conjunctivitis. He put a dye in her eyes and everything seemed ok but she may also have a tear duct blocked in her right eye. We were given eye drops and Lysel (spelling). He had lots of questions since the breeders documents was very vague regarding vaccinations. Come to find out, she was never given vaccinations at the vet, the breeder administered it her self (we were told at the vet, the document states the vet, I called the breeder and put her on the phone with the doctor).

The only fear we now have is she a carrier of this virus and if she is then we have to deal with this few times a year. She was never screened for Lukemia and FelineV but the breeder stated her parents were and the results were negative. I tried to give her the Lysel treat and she pushed it out of her food. I just got over taking care of a dying cat for 2 months by forcing meds down her troat :-( There is no way she picked up the virus at our house, our previous cat didnt have this virus and the house was cleaned from top to bottom several times before the arrival of Layla.

Just got a tex back from the breeder, she stated that "87% of the cats can carry herpes and none of her siblings have it nor does her other cats. A cat can be a carrier and show no signs at all. Her mother has never had a sick day in her life."

It is not uncommon for breeders to give vaccines at home but to say the vet did them is dishonest. If possible, keep her quarantined away from your other cats. It is more likely she came to you carrying the virus not the other way around.

Thank you, we dont have any other pets and she is still quartined for another month until she is very comfortable with us. We have a large master bed and sitting room/master bath that she currently owns and we dont get any sleep because she is playing all night on top of us lol :)

Well, that makes it easier. Good thing she is playing and eating. It is likely she will get over this quickly with consistent care.

She is very active and eats like a champ now (fancy feast only for now).. The breeder just mentioned she gave her Mod live shots... not kill shots.. not a clue about the difference of which one is better but to what I understand mod live in young kittens could make them a carrier?

That is not true. When the virus is "modified" it is altered so they can't contract the virus but enough of the virus is there to create antibodies if they get exposed to it.

It is more likely that the breeder is using the excuse that the vaccine caused the URI but more than likely the breeder has had issues with URIs in her home. It can happens to anyone. Kittens and pregnant moms are more susceptible to these things.
It is better to be honest with the buyers than pretend that it is their fault and own up to selling sick kittens.

She texted me that non of her other kittens are sick and the ones that she sold have not reported being sick at all.

The adjuvant does not create an artificial response, it helps the immune system recognize the antigen. Modified live vaccines can cause a weak version of the disease, that is the disadvantage of using them and why some prefer the killed vaccine.
