Question about Stark.

So you feel that if i do that he will backtrack a bit as far as bonding goes?

In my opinion....I do. A vet's office is a scary place for most pets. Unless he was doing well bonding with you, you could handle him with ease and he was confident, and you were able to bring him to the vets to meet the staff and get comfortable with them beforehand, my advice would be different. If Stark were one of my kittens, I would highly recommend you wait for a while...trust me on this. One of my first Savannahs was very shy, and as luck would have it, she got a small scratch near her eye that required vet attention at the two week quarantine mark. That vet visit, and resulting antibiotic ointment applied twice daily cemented her distrust of me forever. Five years later, she still does not trust me :(

Medication was the cause of Azidi's mistrust of people too. She is 4 yrs and just now beginning to trust me. even tho I was not the one who medicated her.

I'm certainly not a breeder, although if you end up with a URI and you need to be sticking syringes down your kittens gullet for 10 days, it's a lot more intrusive than the vet visit. Of course kittens end up being exposed to a lot more stuff at the vet's office than what they are generally exposed to at home.

With our vet of a few years ago, I certainly leave him home. The vet I have today, who really takes her time with the kittens I wouldn't think twice about getting him in.

Shes a very calm and gentle vet. I discussed this with her in length. I said hes shy and it worries me this might have an effect on him. So should I said should I wait, or get it done or what to do. She said well if he completely starts to trust you then you send him to the vet, he may distrust you for breaking that bond that finally happened. If you get it done while its a work in progress it will just continue to be a work in progress. Everyone has different opinions. So Its sort of damned if i do, damned if dont...I dont know, now Im even more confused!

I delayed it a week already, and Im guessing delaying it another week isnt going to fix anything, so just going to get it done
If you feel that it can be delayed some more and it is not for something urgent then I'd wait... you are finding he is just coming around, so I'm in agreement with Pam that giving him a little more time wouldn't be a bad idea.

Oh for crying out loud. No one can predict the outcome of the vet visit. This is just a wellness check and a vaccination right? Leave the room when the cat is being examined and let the vet tech and the vet be the bad guys. There will be no association in the cat's mind between you and the visit. You really need to stop overthinking this stuff.
