Rafiki not eating

What a difference a week makes. Last week at this time we had received some alarming liver counts and we were anxiously waiting to take her for an ultrasound and biopsy. Twice a day, it would take me about an hour to get her to eat as I would feed her one fingerful at a time. The food was the old Darwin formula with a .2 oz of homemade raw mixed in and heavily doctored with kitty crack. We would have to keep Jammu away because he would eat her food.

Over the last several days, Rafiki asks to be fed. She has been averaging 8 oz or more of food a day. The ratio is 30% home made raw. We now have to keep Jammu's breakfast away so that she wont eat it!

The pill regime continues with 3-4 different ones per day. This morning we tried a pill pocket with the Denamarin and she happily gobbled it down.

She is back to being her naughty little self. Her latest game is trying to shove her carrier under the bed. It is so good to have my baby girl back!

I am so glad to hear this great news! So glad that Rafiki is getting back to herself and that the switch to homemade is progressing well. :)

When we were at the emergency vet 2 weeks ago, I saw a vet come in with a patient. She seemed so kind and caring and I was most impressed that she would go to this length to care for her patient. Well, we have found our new vet!

Rafiki went to see her today to get bloodwork done to see how her liver is doing. Everyone at the vet's office were super impressed with how sweet Rafiki was. Not even a hint of growl or hiss and very few yowls. She let everyone pet her. She was so calm from all the pets that she almost fell asleep during her blood draw. Vet said that she looks great and organs feel normal. We will have results by Tuesday. Fingers crossed.
