Savannah Cat Toilet Training

I tried this with my F5 male. He was doing really well. I even had him flushing after he took care of business. As the holes got bigger and he could see the water he began playing in it and making huge messes. I tried going back like the directions say and beginning with the no hole and eventually enlarging it. Every time he would just play in the water. I gave up.

I'm not sure I see this as a long-lasting thing though, which is why I didn't even bother. I have two litter robots and rarely have to scoop litter anymore...and I also rarely have any smell...but I admire your patience and persistence and hope everything remains status quo ;)

Paige what is a litter robot?

Catherine, see here: http://www.litter-robot.com - I was skeptical until I read the reviews on other sites and talked to some people who had one because they are expensive.

But I was so happy with the first one, I bought a second one ;) They are not for kittens under 5 pounds and are a tad noisy, but it is all worth it...I will be posting a review on it soon.

The lady behind CitiKitty got on Shark Tank and got some serious dough to mass produce her product.

While my cats are (almost completely) toilet trained, I feel the need to add a huge caveat: this takes a lot of patience, a lot more than eight weeks, and a kitten. I would never attempt this with an adult cat.

Nitro is almost ten months old right now, I've been training him since about two weeks after I got him, and he still has the occasional accident. In the process I gained a ruined bed and have developed a sixth sense for when he needs to go #2.

But the advantage of never having to deal with cat litter again (and the lingering smell associated with the litter box) is far more sanitary and sooo worth it. Except when it grosses out girls that can't imagine sitting on the same seat a cat has sat on.

Paul, can you advise how you got started? I've followed the instructions (put litter box next to toilet, eventually remove litterbox and put litter in container on toilet, etc.), but i CANNOT seem to get Loki to take the next step to actually trying out the litter-on-toilet contraption (citikitty). In fact, he'll hold it for 8+ hours until i relent and give the litter box back. I'm so afraid of him peeing/pooping elsewhere in the apt, i always cave and set the litterbox back. How did you get over this initial hurdle? Thanks in advance for your response!
