Savannah F3, F4 or later

Jarvis is really makes us work for it, but we love all three dearly.

:D He knows what he's got. F3 blood. So he wants you to remember that at all times. :)

Question to all owners that posted so far, but also to those that might still reply:

1) What was your approach to find the kitten you wanted?
2) And how much time did you have to invest to get the first one?
3) What where your personal requirements for the first SV? Initially a picture that just catched you?

Status of my search: Yesterday I found a (new) breeder by coincidence (new = I haven't seen or heard anything of her during my searches) and she has what might look like what I'm searching for. I reached out to her and hope she replies soon. F3 BST male kitten with A1 Savannah parents, if I did the calculation and investigation right (her F1 mom is so damn beautiful and the first silver Savannah in Europe at all).

I just went back to her page, scrolled through it and found piece of information I didn't see on her kitten page where I started via Google: The kittens are from 2007. So search back to zero. What a pity.

Be patient... Don't rush... You will find your kitten... Take a look at some UK breeders as well... Per, is a vet and moderator here, has a cattery in Norway, ABC savannahs is in France and the Netherlands, etc

What caught my eye on my breeder's page was an F2 snow that he hoped to use as a queen. She was just so poised and regal looking. She did not produce kittens but her photo was what led me to them and to my little girl. Rafiki is a cool BST and her brother is a mel but full siblings from the previous litters were golden BSTs. SVs can be like a box of chocolates with plenty of variety. Keep in mind that not all breeders are good at updating their sites but the photos of past litters can give you a good indication of what they have bred for. Especially if they post pictures of what they grew up to be.

I have not noticed that German breeders produce mostly silver, interesting that you've seen that. Margitta for instance I don't believe has ever produced a silver kitten. I just flipped through the sites on savannahcat.com and the vast majority of kittens I saw posted on those websites were BST.

Finding the right Savannah kitten can be time consuming, and often frustrating. To answer your questions, I first stumbled upon Savannahs by accident and fell in love. The first breeder I came across is the one I purchased from, however, I waited for almost a year for that litter to be produced. After seeing some pics of a kitten from an earlier litter I knew I wanted one out of the same pairing. Once the litter was born the breeder sent me a pic of the five kittens. I was immediately attracted to one kitten in particular. I asked my son (who was 13 at at the time) which one he liked - he picked the same kitten. That clinched it for me, but it is also what got me into breeding, because the kitten we chose was not a pet boy but a breeding quality girl... so here I am 12 years later...

@Patti: I'm sure that's how I'd gonna end up if I already that house I'm searching for. :)
You're right with BST and Margitta. On her site, I think, I also only saw BST. Beautiful ones. She still has one beautiful girl to give away but personally for a too high price. I'm still thinking about it but then, her face looks too much like a domestic cat from my point of view that I'm not willing to pay her price. Sometimes I get back to those pictures though, just to see if my impression is just wrong. Besides from her "not so exotic face" it's extremely beautiful.

Well I have to admit that you will probably find prices vary quite a bit between breeders. You might even find something equivalent out of the country that price plus import is equivalent, and more to your liking. Take your time and see what's available. You can find breeders in the US and internationally listed at http://www.savannahbreedsection.org/breederdirectory.php If you haven't used Patrick's website before you can try him as well: www.savannahcat.com

Hey Patti,

as already mentioned I reached out to a breeder that I found on one of the two pages you mentioned.
She just sent me pictures of her F5 girl, with almost 12% Serval.
Personally I think she's beautiful (1 week old so far) but I'd like to hear the rating of the more experienced Savannah people here on the kittens Savannah standard compatibility.

Would be amazing if you would let me know how close to a "perfect" Savannah (standard) she comes. Of course her ears can most likely not be rated yet, as they are still hanging.
Background data on the parents: Dad: F4 SBT, Mom: F6B (This fact is not impressing me I've to say). Pictures will only be online for a short time, as I didn't ask for permission to share them here.

There is no way at this age to be able to tell how closely she'll meet the Savannah standard as an adult. Are there by chance any pics of older siblings that might help you know how she'll turn out?
