And I'm going to say- be careful of the leash and harness routine. Unless you KNOW a nasty dog isn't going to come into the lobby with a dingdong owner (who happens to let said dog off the leash)- for example, you'd be okay in a vet that has two waiting rooms (one for dogs/one for cats)...

Anyways, everyone has given you great answers and I agree with Per- who doesn't need another Savannah? Hehehe. But yes, settle in with this baby first- enjoy and then look into bringing home another trouble maker ;)

We are in the process of trying to find a new vet for Kovu. I checked out this one that has the reception desk in the middle of the room. One of the doors leading into the building says "Dogs only" & the other door reads "Cats Only". That way neither of them come into contact with each other. lol I was like SWEET!

That's great :)

As Shelby says, if both dogs and cats are allowed in the same waiting room then you can bet there will be a dog owner that thinks because their dog "likes cats" then your cat is going to want to be slobbered all over by their dog :-(

Yeah, LUCKILY so far while on a leash, people have been very respectful of keeping their dogs (or kids) away. They always ask first before petting him, don't get to close because they are afraid they'll spook him. He doesn't really care. He actually doesn't mind large dogs, but small dogs like Chihuahuas, he'll freak out. Not quite sure why, he is bigger than most of them. lol

You always need an extra Savannah!:big grin:
Let them learn that on their own!

3) Would a playmate (another Savannah) benefit the development and be a positive factor?..... (LOL!!)
Be careful...what you ask for......... So.. umm... I used this approach. I arranged to have Rascal's younger brother join us. Un huh. Yeah. Needed a name for him... Mayhem! He is mentioned in many posts. He is notorious with friends and family.

But this (in time) is probably a very good idea as the high energy levels and interactions help prevent the cats from getting bored. As you read the boards you will note, single savannah households tend to be uncommon. There is a reason most of us have more than one, and this is just one of them.

My Bintu had somewhat of the same deal but she was on her trip from Canada for over 20 hours and a 4 hour car trip to the airport. To this day she will see the carrier and disappear but the leash works great. She lost her meow over the ordeal and she was 12 weeks old to be able to fly. :)
