He eats 4 -5 times a day. I can tell when he is going through another growth spurt, because he is a bottomless pit and is always starving. He is still very thin, so despite eating 1/2 a cow and 3 chickens daily, he isn't over eating. I am concerned Nyah may end up on the chubby Savannah program as she has decided she should eat if Kovu gets something. I have started to divide her regular portions up so she thinks she is getting fed the same as him, but it is ending up like two little specs of meat in her bowl. She is starting to stare at his bowl when I am bringing it to his eating area now...I think she may be on to me!

LOL Becki, good luck with your plan, sounds like it is deteriorating quickly! You may need to start feeding them in separate rooms, or try to distract Nyah while Kovu is getting his snack...

Zahra is an F2B female (F6 to F1) that is 22 weeks old and spayed at 18 weeks. Today she was weighed by the vet at 6lbs 12 ounces. The vet noted she still has all of her baby teeth and so may be due for a large growth spurt.

You have no idea. She is amazing. She loves playing, but isn't unruly or overly hyper and never bites or claws her people. She loves cuddling and sleeps with her owner (I am merely the significant other who paid for her) on the bed every night. She is very confident and quickly warms up to new places and new people. They say Savannah's aren't lap cats, but Zahra definitely is, at least on her terms. She probably won't be the biggest F2B out there and she has a few minor physical faults (e.g. she could have more defined oscilli) but she is nevertheless quite an attractive cat and in terms of temperament and personality we feel like we hit a grand slam home run. Many thanks to Mike and Sandy at Halestone for breeding such a fantastic cat for our home.

It's hard to point to a "perfect" Savannah beyond a HP F1... and no, being a girl she probably won't get to the World's Tallest Domestic Cat (who was an F2B SV)...but it sounds like her personality is as amazing as you could want and truly that is way more important!

We completely agree, which is why we went the direction we did (choosing to go with an F2 instead of an F1 for starters - because it was a better fit for our particular situation). On that note - I was just admiring Zari, your F5, that is listed on your page. I think it's safe to say that I (And ZahrasHuman) am absolutely blown away. Your F5 looks like an F1! I am very curious to understand how you intend to replicate the results (e.g. linebreeding, etc.) you got with that breeding as part of a sustainable program over time. Also noticed you hold a PhD and am curious to know your area of study.
