Not so much weight but size - by neutering early the normal hormones that are produced as a cat matures are never produced. These hormones are one of the things that causes the growth plates to close off in the bones which slows down and stops growth. Without the hormones to trigger this process the kitten's bones continues to grow for a longer period of time. In other words, early neuter usually produces your larger cats.

I have a PhD in Microbiology... specifically bacterial infections of the cornea due to contact lens wear.

Thanks for the compliment on Zari, we adore her and she did very well as a show cat right up until she got so ill last Labor Day :-( She and Hunter (Mike and Sandy's lovely show alter) basically grew up in the show halls side by side.

I'm not sure about "replicating"... as biology is such a funny thing that you can hardly ever get exactly the same result each litter. What I have seen is that the three litters I have had from Nadiya bred to Zak (Zari's parents) they have been consistently really nice and I have found it hard every time to choose a favorite. Because of Zari's illness (still no diagnosis although they've ruled out almost everything) we have kept another girl from the last litter... Dalila. She's very different from Zari in coloring but I think still a really nice girl.

Well rescue clinics will neuter at six weeks of age (some even younger). I would consider 3 months or younger to be an early neuter.

I haven't posted in a while and Julius has turned 1 years old ... He as slowed down is weighing 16.9 lbs . We love him and he never stops amazing us with what he will do next !
