sbt kitten versus the average cat

To me and it may be just me, if these are truly kittens and she's selling them at fifty percent off and hadn't already placed them all locally, I'd be wondering why.

If she's all that and a bag of chips so far, ask for her contract. That is often telling when things seem too good to be true.

I would really question a $450 kitten.
My F5 SBT melanistic (black) SV who I bought from a large breeder was $950, plus shipping and microchip. And he was very reasonably priced.
My F4 SBT snow (non-standard) SV who I bought from the same large breeder was $1200, plus shipping and microchip. I know you are thinking of flying down, which is wonderful, but I would ask a lot of questions at that price range.
I can't see how the breeder would recover the cost of the vaccines the kitten needed, the vet check, and the kitten's care for 3+ months, and that is assuming the kitten's mom had no trouble during delivery and that the kitten was not being altered prior to arrival.
Just my $.02.

that's why I was asking opinions. When she sent the photos to me. She took them with other objects so I could tell size. the prices varied from cat to cat. 650$ for the cinnamon 550$ for the gray with dark spots and 450$ for the yellow with brown spots. The breeder keeps the f2 and F3 kittens at her home and the sbt are at the separate home they said they do this so that the mother which acts a little more wild would effect the kittens personalities more if kept nearby for too long past ween. I also saw some f3 kittens for 4-5k which seems to be the going rate the colors on the sbt seem to be more faded than others I have seen.

I don't see how they could make a profit with such low prices.

But she did say once deposit is made they send copy of the contract for me to sign and read. and to be mailed back when ready to make remainder of payment on kitten.

Well, that's about as ass backwards as it comes. So she could send you a piece of paper AFTER you put down a deposit that says she's responsible for NOTHING in regard to the care of the kitten or any congenital defects? No, no, no.

Tell her-- IF you are serious about any of her kittens- you will NOT give her a dollar without first viewing a contract. Contracts protect both breeder and buyer and money should never exchange hands until a contract has been read, questions asked, and you both feel comfortable.

Oh no no no. FIRST you get to read the contract to determine if there's anything in there you don't like and THEN you send the deposit -- unless the deposit if refundable if you don't like any of the terms of the contract but even that can get dicey.

No, you need to see the contract BEFORE you hand over any money!

I feel uncomfortable with a breeder that is representing one of her cats as "wild" as if it were okay. That's an odd story...

The price is cheap, but you said before this was half-price so that would put them in line with other kittens...but also possibly because they are "non standard" in coloring...you say one is cinnamon? Nonstandard kittens are often priced lower...and might not sell well. How old are the kittens? If older kittens then some breeders do discount to "make way" for the next litter...not something I think great but it happens...

I may have misunderstood about the contract. I would have to double check. I do no they are all non standard but they are all 13 weeks old as of Monday.. So still pretty young
