sbt kitten versus the average cat

I understand marbling isn't really a savannah look. but it is gorgeous when it happens. I actually started by looking at bengals patti. But I don't feel as drawn to them as Savannah's. I have a friend with a Bengal he's actually sort of vicious not sure why.keeps to himself. my cousin with the savannah on the other hand completely won me over. I wish I had a picture to show you. that cat is a beast

I wouldn't base your opinion on the Bengal breed on just one unfortunate kitty... there are plenty lovely ones out there!

When we were looking for a cat way back in 2001, we discovered Bengals and thought them cool...but then saw a website of a breeder that bred Bengals as well as a cool new breed, the Savannah. Once we saw the Savannah we didn't look at another Bengal website... there's something about the look that just caught us. Both are wonderful exotic-looking kitties, and both are high energy and interactive...but the "looks" are different and I personally am one for the leggier more elegant look and so it was Savannah for me. Others might fall for the really gorgeous rosetted spots and the big round eyes and go the other way...

I think there are so many Savannahs out there though that would look distinctive and gorgeous no matter what color or pattern they were :) I've produced a few marbles over the years and found them so special, I've not had a snow yet though and I'd like to have one of those too...

I started with a Bengal (as far as feline hybirds go) who lived to the ripe old age of 18 - I just lost him last year. Like Savannahs, you can get different personalities in the Bengal, but in general (from my experience owning and rescuing) they are pretty outgoing and active cats. I have heard that the early generations (F1, F2) can be more like the Asian Leopard in that they are shy and more reclusive. If you remember that the ALC is nocturnal, this makes a lot of sense.

I love the savannah build. They had me smitten once I saw those big ears and long legs. It's just so wild to begin with. You're right in any color they are gorgeous

Hi Bekki,
I wouldn't hold your breath for a SV looking for an adoptive family without a fee.
Tort and me got our kitties from the same breeder, who has since sold the cattery. I paid slightly less for my snow F4 SV kitten, $1200 in 2012, and I paid $950 for my melanistic (black) F5 SBT kitten in 2011.
Occasionally older SVs pop up that are looking for a home, but the adoption fee can be north of $500.
Good luck in your search!

I am talking to a couple people who have adults they are trying to find good homes for between free plus spay and flight-800$ I know I could get a kitten for a little more but if I find an Adult that needs a home more than a kitten I would feel it to be a smart decision

I would not do it unless it is from a breeder, where you have a contract and health guarantee...CL, eBay and other sources are usually not the best place to purchase a savannah kitten or cat...

Well most definitely I've been speaking with a few of the breeders on this forum. patti and trish specifically. And then there was a breeder on the directory I had come across who has an adult retired breedee as well.
