The larger the fish, the more heavy metals are going to be present. That's why if you are using Salmon Oil, it's a good idea to look at oils from smaller fish or krill.

Oh and Deborah, not the Haiku I was looking for but great information.

I can't remember, have you tried a probiotic instead of the Prozyme? I think that I remember that the Prozyme was sent by your breeder so kudos to you for listening to their advice though!

You can change immediately to a bland raw diet. I would however recommend starting first with a relatively unbalanced one of just the muscle meat... and then add in the organs gradually.

I would not give canned tuna, that almost always gives looser stools in my cats...in fact can be used when I WANT to induce stools!

I should have said "ProBios" in post #145 instead. Nice catch, and sorry for the confusion. Yes, I gave the ProZyme from the breeder a couple months ago. Today is the seventh and final day for the ProBios.

I'll start with muscle meat immediately and add organs gradually.

I definitely had issues with the EVO Kibble as I probably had already mentioned. The Royal Canin Kitten 36 kibble seemed to be much better tolerated and that's part of what I was sent packing with from SE. The one caveat was when I inadvertently ran out of the food I had transitioned him to, and abruptly went back to the RC Kitten 36, again loose stools.

On the Tuna, it's fine for a treat but shouldn't be a staple food in their diet. I'd still try to get the duck into the diet as it's definitely widely used for the sensitive tummy issues.

Thanks. I'll use duck if chicken doesn't firm things up.

Hey John Popp:

What do you think of Science Diet "Prescription Formula" Duck and Pea for sensitive stomachs? It says nothing about being OK for kittens though. What is it that you feed again.........don't see it?

UPDATE: I've tried a couple more:

1. Nature's Variety Instinct grain free - soft, runny poop.

2. Royal Canin Adult Sensitive Stomach 34 - BINGO, it works! I don't know if I should feed this, though, because it says "adult" and not "kitten". Maybe some nutrition experts here can check for me and tell me what you think.

Much obliged. I want to make sure that he's getting everythiong in a food that he needs at this stage.

He's now 25 weeks and 9.25 pounds. Long and tall though.

I have messed around with lots of things, primarily feed raw but also can feed Evo duck canned. Probably some other things he'll tolerate and with age he seems to be doing much better.

Sorry, responding from my phone before with a limited response.

As our breeder recommends the Royal Canin Kitten 36, I would simply mix in a small portion. Better that he isn't having loose stools than to be eating a food specifically for kittens. He just won't be absorbing much if it's on a fast track through his intestines.

The duck is definitely key. I just purchased a bunch of raw duck so I always have some as a fall back. He still cares less about eating but we aren't getting juicy poops any more. The Evo canned duck is seemingly tolerated well, although I have concerns about Evo and the P&G ownership.

Anyway glad to hear your making progress!

Joe, the royal Canin should be fine...feed him what works...

Thanks. I have more to try.

Should I send a stool sample to Dr. J. Gookin to check for T. foetus?

UPDATE: For no apparent reason, this morning's "package" was completely well formed, sectioned and firm. In other words, completely as it should be. No diet change.

I have an appt with local vet for stool sample this Thurs. Should I cancel?
