I've used KLM on some intercontinental flights, and on the receiving end the reports are the same: head-butts and purring. Anything goes through Amsterdam with KLM and there is a wait, they put the animal nto the animal hotel they run there.
How to ship? as short a time as possible, and you do not need to use any medication (on the cat). Giving themva pill is more stressful than not, and most travel well.

Well no not sedated, but just like a calming med? not completely knocked out. Maybe that's not the same thing or wrong words I'm using anymore lol. I remember when Alisha got Kronos that he was on some meds when he flew here in October.

No he wasn't. Where did you get that idea?

But to my amazement he came out purring and happy and no accidents. I was so worried about having him flown to me but it turned out just fine.

I remember asking about it because I was so worried he would be traumatized from the flight, but that is when I learned about it not being a regular practice anymore.

Sorry for my misinformation. In my mind I swore I thought hearing somewhere that he was when you got him :( My wrong.

It was very very common, Breanna, for animals to be flown sedated once upon a time :) And it's a good thing to ask about and to discuss because a lot of people still assume animals are flown sedated!

Kovu came to us in Seattle from Charlotte, NC through Delta. He did great, was just super hungry when we got him. He came out purring and wanting to be loved on. Its about a 30 minute drive from SeaTac to our house. As we were taking the exit to our house he started meowing like crazy, cant blame him, he had been in the kennel for so long at that point. But he was nice & healthy.
