Started GOOD.. Ended REAL BAD

Not uncommon to disrupt intestinal bacterial flora during antibiotic treatment. Good advice for the yogurt. Stool should stabilize in a day or two.

I just spot checked Elsa's weight to see her trend. With a target gain of 8 ounces, she needs 1.14 ounces to make her weakly goal... Since Saturday night she has gained 3.6 ounces which is 1.8 per day. With that, in 2 weeks her weight should be back on course after considering her losses.

She has been eating well, last night she slept good, and this morning she woke up with plenty of energy after a good breakfast.

I think she has her Jumping and Stability Controls in order... WOW.. talking about exercise today... It is like she bottled the last 3 days up and exploded today...

I did notice today that she has developed some Diarrhea. I am no doctor but not eating for 3 days and then going back full steam I am guessing this too shall come to pass... I hope... Once she gets her system under control again.
Give her probiotics to readjust and balance her gut. XXOO TO ELSA

If she still has it in the morning I am going to put in a call to the vet to get his opinion... When it comes to my little girl, I am not going to take that chance.
My vets office has probiotics that are formulated for kittens. With human probiotics it most difficult to adjust dosage properly.
The plain yogurt is great to help put weight back on but best if it has NO SUGAR ( will interfere with balance of gut). If it is sugar free and probiotics from your to her yogurt. One ( human or fur baby) simple can not achieve restoring balance just from yogurt. Probiotics aren't high enough in yogurt. It's been a misconception that yogurt alone can do the job. Not true.

Last night she ate a fair amount of the Plain Yogurt... This morning, she won't touch it... But buy checking her litter, I have not seen any evidence of Diarrhea yet today, but going to keep my eyes open... Sorry if this sounds gross...

There are around 600 types of bacteria that make up intestinal flora and different from person to person or animal to animal. While yogurt isn't a complete set of probiotics it is packed with them and has other attributes that aid in digestion while intestinal flora is being established. There needs to be large colonies of bacteria for chances of survival, and yogurt actually helps by not just adding healthy microbes, but also creating a buffer for the acidic nature of bacteria not surviving and fermented milk providing a medium that helps the bacteria survive.

Yogurt definitely isn't an end all to restoring intestinal flora but a jump start to get things rolling.

John, no offense, but you're going to kill yourself with the details if you keep it up. Don't worry about her weekly weight trends. Worry about her overall health and her happiness. You are a great kitty parent, but you can relax :) you've got this!

Sent from my so called smartphone so all typos and bad advice can be blamed on said "smart" phone ;)

I am not sure what it is about me, and I think it is sort of a hobby is statistics.. And there are times that the information is useful... Maybe I am just a weirdo of sorts, but I enjoy math, and working out math problems. I have always enjoyed putting together numbers and put out what if's... All in the name of fun...

One thing I love doing is going to a store (Walmart is the best) and getting 10 or so items, total them all up, calculate the tax and have the correct change waiting when the clerk gives you the total, and they do not know what to think... At restaurants such as McDonald's before the day of electronic registers and give them something like a $1.03 too much... LOL, did that one time and it too the manager over an hour to get it all straightened out... Was quite funny to watch and enjoyed every minute of it... LOL, I have a cold sense of humor sometimes... Next time the registers are broken when you go to a fast food restaurant, try it.. It is quite funny to watch..
