I agree, it does sound dangerous.

I've never heard it suggested to give a rattlesnake vaccine... I think it somewhat is a risk-based decision. What are the chances of your cat not only seeing a rattlesnake but getting bitten?

As to FIV and FeLV (Feline Leukemia Virus), these are viruses that are contracted by blood and saliva in bite wounds etc. So you would choose to give them to indoor/outdoor cats as they could get into fights with neighborhood cats that might carry the diseases. But an indoor only cat that is on a leash any time it sets food outdoors is not going to be in that kind of contact with strange cats. Or it shouldn't be.

Exactly it wouldn't be off leash or anything. If he takes well to the leash and likes walks then I may take camping then on day hikes and go from there. That is all circumstantial. I could do these vaccines at any time right? So if he does in fact like the leash and walks then I could think about the rabies vaccine etc. down the road right? I don't think rattlesnake would be necessary unless I took hiking in the mountains like when I go to adirondacks for vacation, I like to camp and hike out there once a year for a couple nights. But I don't feel it necessary to take him if only going for a weekend once a year

That sounds perfect. should I neuter before or after vaccine? I want to set my timeline of what needs to be done and make appointments accordingly. I should be getting him this coming week if all goes as planned. he will be going to vet ASAP for post flight checkup. what do you think is most important to take care of first? Timeline?

I'm thinking I will name him Loki. Adam wants to name him Valkyr. Both because of my grandmother whom had passed being Norwegian. I like Loki the most

If it were me, I'd be insisting he was vaccinated now before he flies with FVRCP. I would have him have two vaccinations before neutering. How old is your kitten now? Depending on the state's requirements he may even have to have Rabies if he flies after he is 4 months of age... less than that I know my vet has put "too young" in that part of the health certificate...
Shipping cargo means that your un vaccinated kitten will sit next to crates of other kittens/cats potentially...what if they have a virus? Yikes.

Exactly! He was 4 months old mid feb I believe. I forgot the exact date but he's getting up there. they will have I go to vet before being sent so the vet would determine this correct? Or shipping company will have regulations I presume? They don't ship but maybe 5 or 6 times a year and it is usually a 12 week old kitten. and I assumed vaccine is needed before neuter because of immune system? And being in a place where so many other sick animals have been.
