Toy question....

I suggest buying a variety of toys, I find that my cats are very individual and while one is obsessed with small balls she can play soccer with, and most particularly if they have a piece of ribbon or feather stuck in them so she can throw them as well as bat around... others prefer the chirping mice and others stuffed sheepskin shapes or those roadkill dog toys too...

Until you gauge how destructive your kitten might be, you can try everything. Just monitor them for damage... I personally don't keep foam balls like Rafiki enjoys above, as I would worry about chewing a piece off them. But I have F1s and one will shred styrofoam if she sees it and I just don't want to chance an obstruction. Same for those crinkle balls made of mylar type stuff.

I definitely should add that any toy that has a string or wire needs to be put away when you are not around. These cats are really tough on toys and you do NOT want them to swallow the string or get a wire accidentally wrapped around a leg.

Yes, and yes! I do not leave string toys laying around when I cannot monitor the play. I also worry about the small crinkle balls which the cats love, but I can see them being easily ingested....Savannahs ARE very rough on toys. Favorites here are ping pong and tennis balls, a laser pointer, a homemade wand toy made from an old fly fishing rod with a heavy-duty mylar gift topper duct taped to the end, plastic and paper bags (with supervision, and the handles cut off) and Deborah's favorite...wine corks ;)

I'm sure I've spent hundreds of dollars on cat toys, but in the end I find if I toss a cardboard box or roll of paper towels on the floor the cats are entertained for hours to days (there is just a bit of clean-up after)

Ugh, I will never forget coming home one day and finding little piles of mylar barf all over the house. I was paranoid for weeks but everyone seemed okay - I was lucky that time, but I'll never chance allowing any of my cats to get hold of a mylar crinkle ball again!

Yeah, they definitely like the wine corks although I worry over them since they are so small, and over the plastic milk carton tabs, although they go wild over those as well...

Lots of great suggestions here! And variety is the key... our boys tier of a toy for a while then later it's the best thing around again! Sometimes taking the ones they are board with and hiding it away for a week is good, bring it out again and it's all new!

As for things they wouldn't do without for a day....
