I found Zeddie's for $50, but it was from someone who was getting rid of it because their cat didn't need it. You could keep an eye on local listings like Craigslist or Kijiji

I have found some great cat trees on Craigslist. Two I got last summer were $800+ custom trees that I bought for $60 and $125. Both looked like new; the owners ordered them and to their dismay, their (ragdoll and persian) cats were afraid of the trees and never used them. Their misfortune=my good luck and great deals :)

These are pics of the CL trees I found. The tallest, in the background, was $125, original price $950. The flower tree was $60, original price $800. That one is the favorite by far. Pictured in front is a real tree stump with a green toilet seat cover and a cheapy $20 two-hole kitty condo, also with toilet seat cover ;)

Those trees are expensive, so great find!

I just checked out our Craig's List. You are correct - lots of deals to be had and many looked new.

I am rather wondering why this "NEW! Bondage gear for the Fetish/BDSM lifestyle" :-o was one of the entries found under a search of "Cat tree". Does this person trim cat claws?:confused:

There are a few tricks to searching Craigslist for cat trees. My taller tree was posted as a "cat tower" and the smaller one as a "cat post" and neither showed up under searches for "cat trees".

Try also: cat post, cat tower, cat condo, cat house, cat climber, cat gym, cat scratcher....you'll be amazed how many more pop up in searches!

I did have to borrow a trailer to bring the taller one home; it is 7' tall and 200 lbs and does not come apart. The smaller one's base was removable so I was able to fit it in my SUV.

Maybe the gear is helpful for trimming some cats' claws....;)

I like the Armarkat trees, and have one that is 6 years old (and also a CL find). My tree is showing its age and the carpet needs to be replaced, but it has held up very well, is sturdy and well-built and still in use. I think you can't go wrong with this tree from Armarkat, though the soft fleecy fabric may tear more easily than regular carpet. Good price, too!

I was looking for something with fleecy fabric so Cyro wouldn't learn to go after carpet ... though you do make a good point about it possibly not lasting as well.
