Having dealt with TF before, I can't imagine him not wanting to cure it. It is it a smell that makes your eyes water! Young kittens can get dehydrated and die as well. Like kitty parvo almost. His kittens must live in a separate area than where the breeder lives or he is immune to the smell.

The female adult cats live inside with them, the kittens have their own kitten room. Studs live in an outdoor enclosure. Yes the kitten room smelled BAD. I figured it was because having 8+ kittens in one room it would always smell bad because you can never keep the box 100% clean with everyone going potty constantly.

I do recall seeing a cow pie poop pile in the stud pen, although I do not recall a nasty smell.

(I visited the breeder several times with Bre when picking out her kitten).

I would say that if all the kittens were in one room, then all the kittens probably have TriTrich...they all need to be treated...hopefully bre can talk some sense into them.

They are sensible people and very nice and do care about their cats, and take them to the vet. In fact, they go to the same vet that Bre takes Keljin to. I really don't want to think of them in any negative manner at all.. because they are a NEW breeder. I think so far they have only had a total of 3 litters and have a lot to learn.

What I think is going on is that they are in denial, and think that they are being "attacked" in some way or another. I am sure with persistence and the right wording used that Bre will get through to them. We had a talk about what to do last night, and the last thing we want to do is make them feel like we are attacking them.

Well, that is encouraging. For some reason, I thought they were a bigger breeder that didn't care about the tritrich.

One of the issues- which you guys have noticed- is that vets simply don't bring up tritrich too much and some know nothing about it at all. You want to trust your vet that they know it all, but sometimes, they just don't.

If you know their vet, you may want to mention it to their vet. You mention that you spoke with other cat breeders that mention it would be a good idea to treat all the cats that you are trying to help and not be a problem buyer. Ignoring the issue isn't going to help them. No, even 8 kittens in one room shouldn't stink. I have had 8 kittens in one room and it doesn't need to smell bad. Kitten poop is rather small after all.

I didn't think their house was small at all... I would guess 1800 - 2200 sq ft, but the kitten room is a smaller bedroom. By the time they were getting ready to go home they were running around the upstairs of the house.

I was going to buy a cat from them but wanted something earlier than an F8. Nothing about them made me think I should stay away from them.

Sounds like they are new and inexperienced and need some guidance...but they need to treat the TriTrich...it sounds as though you all have it under control ;)
