I named mine Oakley after the sunglasses. LOL. Although I have never owned a pair of expensive sunglasses like that because I always to sit on them or get broken some how. Plus I just like the name!

Love that name...Oakley's are my favorite sunglasses and I am somewhat of an Oakley collector ;)

I had never had the pleasure of naming any of our animals myself. I had suggestions, but the kids and hubby always have had the final word. So this time I put my foot down ... he is MY cat and I get to pick his name. I did a lot of internet searches for African names, words, etc. in honor of his Serval heritage. Also our two female DSHs have names relating to Jamaica (Irie - it's all good; and Marley - as in Bob Marley), so I was also thinking along those lines. When I found the word Tafari "he who inspires awe" and realized it was also related to the Rastafarian religion (Jamaican) ... well, it was perfect! So my awe inspiring little man is Tafari. I honestly had no idea there was actually a cattery called Wild Tafari ... but the name so fits these beautiful cats. Now, if I can just get my husband to call by his name and not "Mr. T"!!

Well, I have Chuju Chakapu which means pale wildcat in an African dialect of some kind, and I have Razi Kivuli; Razi means secret in Swahili, and Kivuli means shadow. I named him that because I bought him and didn't tell anyone for awhile, and shadow because he follows me everywhere. And Buluu Nimbus. Buluu is Swahili for blue, and Nimbus is a rain cloud named that because his spots look like little rain clouds.

I started with two litter mates - brothers who were always fighting. So we ended up with Ulysses S. Grant and Stonewall Jackson. Ulysses and Jackson for short. I then wanted a show kitty since the boys (or the twins as we call them) were not SBT. My husband want to keep the general theme going. So Napoleon Bonaparte joined the group. Bonaparte for short.

Ulysses wears a blue collar, Jackson a grey one, and Bonaparte has one that says "Bad to the Bone" which fits him to a tee.

Of course they have nicknames - Persistent, Determined, and Stubborn!

Kovu. :)

I originally wanted to name him Mufasa, from Lion King because it was my favorite movie as a kid, and seeing since he is part of African Serval I thought he deserved a cool name. Glenn & Elijah shot that down immediately so I started thinking of other Lion King characters, and everyone was able to agree on Kovu. Well, Glenn wanted to call him "Kobu"...but in the end Kovu stuck.

I wanted a human name, and "Louie" is fun to say. I can also exaggerate the "ooooooooooooooooo" when saying hello to him, at which he lets out a loooooooong chirp-meow to answer me with puffy tail.
Second name "Prima" because Louie Prima was a funny guy.

Themba means "great in size" or second meaning "trusted"

Purrsalot means Purrs-a-lot

While I don't have a savannah yet...all of this waiting has given me lots of time to think of names. I've narrowed it down to Beau or Bo ( not sure of which spelling, may depend on gender) or something in tribute to my favorite jazz musician, Milt Jackson. Milt isn't a very appealing cat name to me so if it were a male, Jackson is a good name or his nickname was Bags so that could be a cute name as well.:big grin:
