what to feed SV kitten with diarrhea

What exactly is havi eating? I'd fast for twelve to fourteen hours and then feed plain boiled chicken with lactobacillus added on top. That is my diarrhea game plan and usually works.

She is eating Authority Hairball formula from Petsmart right now. I tried boiled chicken breast with a little white rice after withholding food for 24 hours. She would not even touch it. Can I use Jarro Dophillus as the probiotic? Will try again with the chicken only. It's hard with another cat in the house. I guess I will just have to pick up the food at night and separate the two when I'm gone during the day so I can make doubly sure she is not sneaking the DSH's food. What about raw chicken?

Raw works just as well and has more nutrients for her. Mind you- I only used boiled as a tummy soother- it's not a long term solution, but sometimes a few days of something mild lets th!eir intestines settle back down. And yes, keep the upset tummy kitten out of the other cat's food for now- it's a huge pain in the butt, but imagine how you'd feel if you always had diarrhea/loose stools. It can't be comfy, so you definitely want to nip it in the bud ;) I know, I know- you are doing great and I am sure you'll get this figured out shortly! Here's to FIRM POOP for the holidays!

My thoughts are with you and your baby. I second, or third or fourth, feeding raw. Kovu will eat raw chicken, Nyah doesn't. She does like it cooked, though. She is a fan of venison, rabbit and beef. I hope you find something yours will eat and things turn around. What about pumpkin for the diarrhea? I hate to keep changing things for this poor girl, that can't help her tummy either.

Update on Havi: Her diarrhea is improving. Stools still on the softish side but no longer runny. No more leaky butt. She won't eat boiled chicken and rice, she no longer wants canned food, but will eat Petsmart Authority Hairball formula, almost exclusively. I wish she would eat kitten food for the extra nutrients and protein. But she won't, not even Fancy Feast canned kitten food. She has already had one heat cycle, poor baby. She goes in for her spay next week and a third and I hope final PCR test. She has become such a companion to me, just a fun kitty to have around, albeit mischievious.

Thanks for all your suggestions, many of which I have tried. Some have worked, some not so much. I'm praying that over time she will outgrow this problem.

We are touch and go with stools on our 8 mos old. SV. Tried all the same stuff you have as welll. He is doing well and gaining weight, stool goes from firm to soft with no rhyme or reason. But, its gradually improving. God luck to you and Havi!

Never in a million years did I ever think I would be joining in on a desire for firm poop! But count me in!! If my little one could use an IPad she would be expressing the same here. She gives me the death look when she is in the process of covering up and her tail accidentally while turning to make make sure all is covered properly gets some on her tail. ALERT ALERT tail washing time! Oh yes, I'm sure she for firm poop also! One of the five that she is being treated for is contagious to humans. Want to be extra careful..........

Just got the results of Havi's latest PCR test. The tritrichomonas is back. So here we go again with another round of ronidazole. The vet also wants to start her on Vitamin B12 shots. When will this ever end? Havi shows no sign of slowing down. In fact it was hard to keep her from jumping after she was spayed last week.

I'm quite glad Havi is NOT slowing down. You and she will get through this. Hang in there. We are all pulling for you. Tritrich can be vanquished!

Havi is unlikely to slow down too much, this is one of the characteristics of the breed. Poor girl, I hope this next round of ronidazole will do the trick!
