I'm glad to see the update!

Tell your son that there are plenty of people that give up their cats to shelters because of this issue, that's why he may not know of many people working so hard. Most don't do the work to fix the behavior... or else they let the cat be an indoor/outdoor kitty with outdoors being where they get tossed if they pee in the house...
