ive tried the scruffing, I may not be doing it correctly..Ive watched videos on exactly how to scruff, but he gets upset. But I do try. Can you tell me best way as I would like to continue to try
I was going to recommend the binder clip if stuffing works on him. One of my boys it doesn't work so the clip doesn't help. He actually fights me more. He is better if I wait until he's sleepy in my lap (which doesn't happen often). I keep nail clippers in my pocket and sneak in a couple nails when I can.

Well if he would sit in my lap I could try that. I tried the binder clip a while ago, so maybe I will try again. He just spazzed on me

I also trim my cats nails, they become so sharp they also get caught in blankets and stuff. We trained them every week since we've got them. My boyfriend holds them when he sits and with one hand he holds the forlegs and with the other one the back. In the beginning they really didn't like it, but now they don't make a big deal of it anymore.
I don't know if you have a person the cat trust to help you?

I only trim just a little little bit everytime, so they still can climb verry easely and catch things, but i just cut the tip off so they don't get caught in stuff anymore.

Don't know if it will work for you. Because your cat doesn't like to be held.. Maybe other people here can help you better.

I did about the same as others. Every time Venus gets lazy in my lap I play with her feet and extend her nails. Now when she is sleeping in my lap she doesn't wink an eye when I clip her nails. I keep the trimmers on the table next to my chair so when the opportunity presents itself I'm on it.

I use the binder clip on my difficult cats - actually two in a row on my larger cats. It does work well on most cats, but there are those few who will even fight through this. You can try using, nutricalm, Rescue Remedy, or Feliway which can be purchased in a pet store or online. Some people even use Xanax or acepromazine at times when their cats get really stressed out. I've never heard of anyone using it just to trim nails, and I suppose it might be considered overkill, but if nothing else works you might want to consider discussing it with your vet.

I really dont want to give him stuff to clip his nails. I wonder if maybe two binder clips would work, I really dont know what to do to be honest. Hes always been a bit of a scared cat and it took him forever to come around, more than a year and hes still not there. Having said that, he needs his claws and feet clipped and hes going to hurt himself.
