I have a motion activated water sprayer that I sometimes use when the raccoons get too close. The only bad thing is that you have to leave the water on and I worry that something will happen to create a leak when I am not around. It has never happened, mind you, but I worry all the same because I live where water is not plentiful and do not want to waste any. Also, we have forgotten that it is on.....and suddenly remembered after receiving a thorough drenching!

I have two F3s (littermates) and they do go through ratty patches with each other - lots of feliway helps as does distracting them with toys. Also perhaps worth a camera for when they are unattended, since mine act very differently when we are not around - generally far less active.

That said, neither of my boys has ever really cared about other cats in the garden. Below them, apparently.

They are in 2 different rooms at the moment.
Any idea how long they should be separated?
An other night perhaps ? And maybe an other day tomorrow as I am going to be out most of the day.
What do you think?
Thank you for your replies,:paw:
Hello,
Im new to this group.I have a two year old savannah. His name is Javeonne. He grew up with another male cat who was older than him. They never fought. We moved into a new house September with another cat. He has viciously(the cat had to go to the vet to get stitches)attacked the female cat twice. I am unable to put the cats in the same room. We keep Javeonne in the room. The female cat has to stay in the basement. Why does Javeonne hate this cat soo much. When we let javeonne out of the room he "beelines" for the basement to attack the cat through the door. HELP!!!!!

Sometimes cats just don't get along. Is the female spayed and the male neutered? If not, that should be your first step.

The best way to try to bring them together is to do a quarantine and reintroduction. See attachment on first post here http://www.savannahcatchat.com/threads/introducing-a-new-cat-into-the-family.4746/

I would put the female in the separate room and then slowly reintroduce them. It could take a bit of time. You also have the option of trying calming collars, Rescue Remedy or Feliway in addition to the quarantine.

If all else fails, try a animal behaviorist such as Marilyn Krieger http://www.thecatcoach.com/

I agree with everything Deborah has suggested, and in addition have heard that a dab of vanilla on the noses can help. I also recall a perfume that seemed to work but can't remember the name of it. The bottom line in these tactics is to get the cats to smell (or think they smell) the same. A more drastic measure is to collect urine from Javeonne and rub it on the female cat - sounds disgusting, but I have actually seen this work before.

There is also a book called Cat vs. Cat that may help you as well: http://www.amazon.com/Cat-Vs-Keeping-Peace-When/dp/0142004758

I am still having a bit of redirected aggression with my girl toward the boy.
Has anyone used the Royal Canin calm dry food?
Could it help?

One of my breeder friends uses the RC calm and said it works well
