Home after a week on the road, and "Nifty" got his quarantine release on Tuesday. He's been playing with Chongo the better part of the week and are definitely enjoying one another. Pretty funny to see Chongo being the adult in the room although the two of them play until their bodies go limp.

Still don't have a real name for "Nifty" as his personality hasn't totally revealed itself to us, and the minx says "Nifty" is certainly off the table. Very lovable, purrs all the time, more cautious than Chongo was and doesn't challenge the older cats. He certainly doesn't back away from Chongo which eventually leads to Chongo exerting his size when the play gets a little rougher. No harm, no foul just separate them and then they are right back at it.

We are still probably a few weeks away from unsupervised play, but so far so good. As long as he has a good understanding about the older cats and things being on their terms he'll do great. With a little more size, he'll be better prepared to deal with Chongo. Not that there are any real issues, outside of when Chongo just locks him down while grappling and then doesn't have the size to break free. A brief reset and they are back at it within seconds.

I'll work on some pictures, thus far that would be pretty tough. Continual motion by the two of them or needing to intervene when Chongo is throwing his weight around.

Currently they are both sleeping, Chongo next to my desk and the nameless noir in his condo crate. He definitely didn't want to go back in, started dragging his bed around and finally passed out when he had it dragged about halfway down the second ramp. 4 hours of play has taken it's toll.

Perhaps when my sister is here this afternoon she can get a decent photo. She is always more concerned about documenting things than Trish or I. Probably just that the two of us have had their fill of photography by week's end, keeping clients happy and neglecting what's important to us.

Sorry, still no new pictures.

Yesterday was perhaps the most rewarding day we have had since owning an SV. Chongo and the little guy ran and played until they could play no more. Some guests over in the afternoon, promptly greeted, a couple rubs and back to their kitten games. When the kitten was returned to his condo he promptly passed out and a few moments later Chongo perched himself on my lap with heavy eyes and as affectionate as he's ever been.

Definitely not the norm for Chongo as he's anything but a lap cat. Our interaction generally revolves around throw this, rub my belly and look what I'm going to do. He didn't wrap himself around my ankle, walk on a keyboard or put his teeth in my foot, simply just a look of contentment, head butts and purring as loudly as I've ever heard.

Definitely the best thing we could have done, and I'm glad we had the time to form a tight bond before the introduction of another kitten. As much as I have consoled Chongo to let him know that he is still my special guy, I think at the end of the evening he was letting me know the same.
