American bobtails??I ordered the 5 generation from TICA and got it last week. I noticed that a lot of the cats were from the same breeder that my brother (Rascaldad) bought 4 Savannah's from. He lives in IIlinois and I live in Fl. So I called him and he emailed me copies of his pedigrees. It turns out that the mother of his F3 female had a sister in the same litter that is the great great grandmother of mine. Tink is an F6. I also now know what other breeds were used. Tink has Bengals, and American Bob Tails in her background. I also am able to combine the 2 pedigrees to have an 8 generation pedigree in a few places. Our 2 pedigrees had 3 cats in common. I found this very interesting and would recommend buying the pedigrees if you do not get one from the breeder. Sue
I can think of one reason you might want the paperwork... you have an F1 right? You might need some day to prove he IS a Savannah and not a Serval. Don't laugh, people get them mixed up. I had a situation here in San Francisco where I had homed a large Savannah girl, she got into an altercation while on a leashed walk with an unleashed dog and the dog's owner called Animal Control saying there was a Serval. The AC officer turned up at the owner's place and he promptly called me for help. I had to go down to AC with her registration papers to prove she was a domestic cat. I showed the officer pictures of a Serval and pictures of Katie and he could tell me the differences, but he still wanted a copy of her papers to prove it as the person making the complaint was kinda hysterical about it. Attached is a pic of the cat in question.... and the dog in question was a labrador threatening her new daddy...I told my breeder to save the paperwork... I could care less about their legacy, because they are all getting fixed and I wasn't planning on showing them... I just wanted to expand my family..
Be careful when bargain-shopping for Savannahs, there are plenty of scammers out there that know that people get excited over our breed. You will find those that will pretend the cat is a Savannah and hope you take the bait of the cheap price for its purported generation.... you will find those that online steal other breeder's pictures and "sell" that kitten and either you get no kitten or when they meet you in some parking lot with a crate you get home to a kitten that obviously is plain domestic shorthair. Prices will vary with Savannahs though, depending on generation, age, quality and all sorts of factors. Just do your research so that you do get what you are paying for! Some pics of the bobtail and one wild mother that leaves presents and is trapwise. But back to Savannahs, when I say prices are all over , here are 2 examples' The one in cat tree they want 3500 or so, claim they paid 5500. The other 650. The latter they claim is an F5 but reniged on contract, the one in tree has papers
Free to good home , have no clue what it is, thought about taking it in, but thats just a sickness I have
Can one get the pedigree without registering? Somewhat confused about some of the above.Be careful when bargain-shopping for Savannahs, there are plenty of scammers out there that know that people get excited over our breed.
