Wow, IF-Only...that's shocking that there would be a hairless patch from the fleas? Or was it on the back of the neck from the Revolution (I've heard it can do that to some sensitive skins)... but you are correct that a kitten should not come with a bad flea infestation. I think in some climates it's almost impossible to completely rid of them (I don't know, here in San Francisco the fog tends to limit this issue fortunately!) but I would think before letting a kitten leave I'd want them flea-free... yikes :-(
I hope that is the only issue you have though, it is resolvable and your kitten should be better very soon.
