Wow, IF-Only...that's shocking that there would be a hairless patch from the fleas? Or was it on the back of the neck from the Revolution (I've heard it can do that to some sensitive skins)... but you are correct that a kitten should not come with a bad flea infestation. I think in some climates it's almost impossible to completely rid of them (I don't know, here in San Francisco the fog tends to limit this issue fortunately!) but I would think before letting a kitten leave I'd want them flea-free... yikes :-(

I hope that is the only issue you have though, it is resolvable and your kitten should be better very soon. You could consider giving your kitten Capstar in addition to the Revolution as the Capstar will kill all fleas within the hour...then the Revolution will prevent them coming back... http://www.drugs.com/pro/capstar.html

Hi everyone!
As most of you know, my F3 Mikono is a kitten that I got from Taran. He is doing absolutely great now. He came to me with the sniffles, watery eyes,, etc. At first, we started giving him Lysine and it seemed to help a little, but turns out, he eventually grew out of that sniffle. He's now 16 months and I haven't had the problem since he was about 4 months old. He's a very little guy. Tall and lanky, but hasn't passed the 10lb mark. He had at one point. Does being sick as kitten affect growth at all? Do they fall behind? Can I expect any more height out of him at 16 months? I know all kittens are different, of course :). I just want to make sure that his lack of weight gain/growth isn't the result of any of the health problems. If not, I'm perfectly content as long as he remains healthy.

No, I don't think so... I think that it is just the size Mikono will be. Not all Savannahs are huge, even the earlier generation males.

Mikono probably will put on a couple more lbs with age, he might even grow an inch more. But I think unless a cat is direly ill for a large part of their kittenhood, their growth would not be that affected and much of the time they will regain what ground they lost.

I'm glad to hear that Mikono was able to grow out of his sniffles. I think that sometimes when a kitten is seriously ill it can effect their growth, but the mere sniffles should not have an effect on their development. I'm not sure how big Mikono is (you describe him as tall and lanky which is what a Savannah should be) but I have several Savannahs right around 10lbs, so I'm guessing he's probably right on the mark.

Yes, he is a lanky fella! That eases my mind a bit. At one point he had reached 12lbs, but now is back at 10lbs. He seems perfectly healthy though, and that is all that matters!

Gina my F5 girl is up and down on her weight. She is 16 months old now. It happens. Depends on how hard she plays. ;)

I found this site during my discussions with Taran. I'm glad that I did. It seems to me that asking $1600.00 for a cat with no papers, is a lot. Is that typical? I wanted a Savannah, I have a wonderful home environment for one etc. But all of my animals have been reacues, and I have a hard time imagining paying the same amount that i paid for my nanny's car ($6000), for a cat.

Does anyone ever sell healthy (not 50 toed) cats for less than $1000? I would never breed, show etc. This is soley a cat to join my family.

IMO, I would consider a cat with no papers not to be purebred. It's something like $15-20 for the breeder to register the whole litter so it makes no sense for the cat not to have papers. IMO, big red flag.

I am going to ask. Basically if the cat isn't registered I see no reason why it is different from me going to the SPCA and paying $75.
