There is now another sick kitten sold by Taran Nolan - Domestic Wildcats! She will not take the kitten back and he is being surrendered...since Taran's kittens really are not savannahs - they are chausies...both SV Rescue and Chausie Rescue will be handling this...Please DO NOT buy from this breeder!!!

I hope that the person that is surrendering this sick kitten actually does what they say they will do and takes her to court over it. Not only sending her a sick kitten but LYING about what the kitten actually is. It's ridiculous that a kitten that has an F1 CHAUSIE mom and F3 CHAUSIE sire is being sold as a SAVANNAH. If you track the Savannah heritage the kitten is an F8A Savannah versus F2 Chausie. It's just misleading and FALSE to call a kitten a F2.5 Savannah kitten.

Not registering a kitten does not hide that it is not what it is represented to be.

Don't understand why she hasn't been sued for fraud. Don't understand why animal control doesn't pay her a visit. The people who have purchased kittens from her need to take a stand to help stop this nonsense.

Probably because there is no contract. People figure they can't...

I completely agree, these buyers are the ones that can do something! This most recent person contacting Savannah Rescue says she is considering legal action but whether she will...

Hi all! So I am very new to this website and to owning a Savannah (or at least what I was told was a Savannah) which we got from Domestic Wildcats! Wish I would have seen this site sooner! My fiancé surprised me for my 30th birthday by purchasing me what we're told was a Savannah...same as everyone else...an F2.5 (which I knew wasn't a true generation, just their nickname). What I didn't understand fully was the breeding generations and crosses with other breeds and how exactly that determined what they were considered etc. since my kitten was somewhat a surprise I didn't really get to research much and my fiancé definitely didn't know anything much about the breed (he simply trying to get me a beautiful kitten that was from a serval bloodline). Anyway, after we received our kitten a week ago I took her to the vet and she has Coccidia! Jimmy seemed very concerned and even paid the vet bill. After reading all this info on here I'm now concerned we were screwed! We paid $2500 for our little girl and YES WE HAVE A CONTRACT (the one I uploaded is not the executed copy, it was too large) No papers though. Would someone mind please taking a look at the contract and give me any advice on whether or not they think there's any legal action I could take?

I'm not sure what kind of legal action you are thinking of taking?

Coccidia is a very common infection in kittens and can easily flair from a stressful event such as traveling to a new home, and is usually easily taken care of with antibiotics.

As for the contract, it appears to be straightforward - it states that they will not provide papers, it is clearly documented that the kitten is a hybrid between a Savannah and a Lynx (whatever breed that supposedly represents), and it states they are not responsible for contagious diseases.

I am more concerned that it looks like Tarrant County, TX bans Savannahs, which means your kitten is at risk of seizure and euthanasia by Animal Control: www.hybridlaw.com If you are not actually in Tarrant then I hope you have obtained the appropriate permit, liability insurance, and housing arrangements as required by the state of TX to own a Savannah.

I don't quite understand...the contract you signed is not the same as the one you uploaded? Or the same wording just this isn't the signed copy?

This contract doesn't even mention the parents, hence you haven't even parentage of this kitten...you may well have paid $2,500 for a mixed breed kitten with some Savannah and some other breeds mixed in. We did see one kitten represented as that ridiculous "F2.5 Savannah" turn out to be an F3 Chausie and the closest the Savannah was was 6 generations away. Hard to tell from that contract what you actually got.

Coccidia is a difficult infection, there's no easy test for it. It's usually diagnosed by visualizing down a microscope a fecal float. This requires enough infection for coccidia to be shed, so up until the infection breaks a kitten will not show any signs. Some cats can carry coccidia without symptom, but stress (for example the stress of cargo shipping) can tip the balance and the coccidia overgrow and cause infection. I do hope that your vet is not treating this with an old-school type of medication like Albon (Sulfadimethoxine) but suggested Ponazuril or Toltrazuril which are newer and far more effective at eradicating the infection.

Although I do think that you were "screwed" in the sense that you have paid too much money for an unregistered mixed breed kitten, I do not believe that the contract you signed promises you anything that you could go after them for. If you had demanded you wished to return the cat within that 48 hours (and not sure how soon after her arrival "a week ago" was), then I guess you could demand that they take her back and refund your money. This contract doesn't make false promises about what the kitten is...

Like Patti, I would be concerned about your location and hope that you do keep your kitten safe.

You would probably be wasting your money to try to pursue a case however there are LOTS of places that you can post your complaints. Better Business Bureau and Yelp. These get tagged by Google and at least you can save someone else from falling into the same trap. I just met a lady getting a kitten from me that bought Taran's notorious F2s last year. It is an F2 but an F2 Chausie and not an F2 Savannah, it is more like an F6 or F7 Savannah that looks like a Chausie. Fortunately hers came mostly healthy, however she had to work with it a lot to get it to like her.

That's so common, they "call" them Savannahs but their mother is an F1 Jungle Cat hybrid (ie a Chausie). But they don't find as many people wanting F2 Chausies nor willing to spend money so they call them Savannahs because the sire has Savannah (as well as every other breed) in his background so theoretically they are Savannah mixes. And when F2 Savannahs are so much more expensive it seems such a fabulous bargain people are blinded to the red flags and just buy the kitten :-(
