Jumping in late on this thread. I have one of Tarans "Savannah's" also. I was told its an2.5 but there is no such thing. My little gal was born n June and had Goat for a dad also. She does sneeze occasionally , should I be worried. I love my cat but not so fond of her and her attitude. tried to buy another and was treated with no courtesy. My opinion...it's just $ to her. Like I said I love my cat I got from her but I would say she is lacking in t.he honesty department

No, an occasional sneeze is just like us- we sneeze on occasion too. As long as its not a lot and as long as its not accompanied with flying boogies and snot, I wouldn't fret. You could add Lysine to her food and that may help, but it's not absolutely necessary.

Occasionally doesn't seem bad... of course it depends on one's definition of occasionally!

As Trish says, if there is no accompanying boogers and snot, or irritated looking or teary eyes etc...it's probably nothing.

I hope you enjoy your little gal despite not being F2.5 which you are absolutely correct is not correct...inventive of her though! LOL!

Luna is a cutie @Cruzr ! I think it's hard not to worry after reading through this thread, and it certainly won't hurt anything to have her evaluated by your vet just to make sure (unless she freaks out at the vet's, in which case you might think twice about it). In reading through this thread though I couldn't find anywhere that anyone had conclusively had their kitten/cat from Taran diagnosed with a URI, in spite of several of them sneezing, did I miss that?

Hello there,

I just read this thread and I am curious if any of you who had sneezing and snorting kittens found a solution? How are your kittens doing now?

I just put in a deposit for a beautiful kitten from Taran. Based on my experience with her, she's really nice and willing to answer even probing questions.

I guess I just want to make sure that your kittens ended up being okay; and that mine should be too.

Jack Malacat, maybe you can ask Taran about the kittens with sneezes and snuffles and see if she had an issue she has since resolved? Bad things happen in a cattery, cats get sick..it is how the breeder deals with an issue that can prove if they are a good or indifferent breeder.

Out of curiosity, what questions did you put to Taran that you thought "probing"? I know that I like buyers that ask me lots of questions rather than simply "how much"... so interested in what things you were asking :)

I will do exactly that Brigitte.

However, I would still like to know how these kittens are doing now from their owners' perspective. After all, only them can give us an unbiased firsthand information regarding their kittens to this point.

I didn't necessarily ask Taran personal questions, as I didn't see it relevant to my purchase.
I did ask though, questions that every buyer should ask before putting in a deposit.

* Why my kitten will have to be registered by me, as it doesn't come with registration?

* Is this kitten for show, breeding, or pet purposes only?

* Will I get weekly updates during my wait?

* Will I get a refund should the kitten's circumstances change?

* Is there a health and temperament guarantee?

* Will I be able to contact you anytime I have questions, or in need of advice?

* Can we put all this in writing?

In fairness to her, she answered all my questions to my satisfaction.

With regards to the registration and papers, it's not a big deal personally. What matters to me is that I would get a healthy stunner. And should there be any problems along the way, there's a charter we can always go back to.

Insist on the kitten being kept until at least 10 weeks of age. Not just what I have read here but the world of difference it made with our two savannah boys, one brought home at 9 weeks and the other at 12 weeks.

Both kittens left the breeder in good health. The 9 week old kitten developed a slight cold evidenced by some crust near the eyes and nose. A little go around with antibiotics and they were fine.

The bigger issue was with loose stools and the foods they would tolerate. The kitten picked up at 9 weeks was an ongoing 6 month battle before stools were firmed up and took a great deal of care to establish a diet. Things were totally limited to raw chicken and one kind of kibble. Slow introductions to other foods were always a step backwards and consequently we had a rough time removing the kibble from their diet.

Our other kitten brought home at 12 weeks was far better socialized despite being from the same breeder. Lessons Mom can teach a lot better than you or I one would suspect. He had a healthy respect for our other cats, he knew there were boundaries in his play and he had a rational amount of caution our other Savannah never did.

Certainly some of this may be happenstance but it followed suit exactly with how the majority of people here said it would. In fact I was an advocate for picking kittens early, primarily because I didn't know any better and it wasn't until we had our second that I noted how much difference those 3 weeks made.

Anyway, hope things go well and again really push for that 10+ weeks before delivery.
