Well, if the breeder really cared about the situation, she'd stop sending fragile 8 week olds home whom barely have started in solids and whose digestive systems are still so fragile. Has she changed her policies?

No she hasn't in talking to my vet, after the 1st examination my kitten will be put on the appropriate diet, that will most likely included canned "kitten milk" I forgot the name of the product that I was given but my vet will be accessing the situation when the time comes. My vet say's it is to early to send out a kitten but provisions can be made if necessary. Unfortunately for me I can not go back the deposit but down was for a large portion of the price and can not be refunded. I wish I found this page way sooner! You guys have been so helpful and understanding even though I'm sure its taking everything in some of you guys not to bash me for the situation I've put myself in. So Thanks again for your understanding and information regardless of the situation.

Look, we all make mistakes and live and learn. So move forward with a positive mindset and hopefully your baby will have many happy healthy years with you.

I am sure most of us just want your kitten to be happy and healthy and for you to be happy and confident. Bashing you would serve NO purpose whatsoever.
Good luck and prayers go with you.

Glad I came across this thread. I too wondered how a SV could be polydactyl and still considered a SV. My Jungle Bob is poly and I knew that was a common trait for them. So are her "Poly Svs" technically SVs or Jungle Bobs? Seems like they would be Jungle Bobs? Just curious.

A genetic mutation does not make a Savannah something else. In the case of Taran's kittens they could potentially be registered either with TICA as non-standard (because of the polydactyl) Savannahs or Chausies (if either parent is registered with TICA), or with REFR as Junglebobs. However, my understanding is that Taran doesn't register her litters at all so it's a moot point, they can be called whatever their owners want them to be.

Agreed with Patti, theoretically such a kitten could be registered as an outcrossed Savannah, outcrossed Chausie...or as a Junglebob with another registry (TICA does not recognize them). TICA is a genetic registry so even though they exhibit a nonstandard trait (polydactyl or bobtailed) for the breed, they would still have papers in the Foundation Registry. Only the Stud Book Registry is eligible to show and is what TICA considers "purebred", and these kittens are not purebred anything... it takes three generations of the one breed to be SBT.

I have a 20 month old F3 from Taran. He's very healthy. He's not huge by any means, but tall and lanky. I was able to track his heritage all the way back to the Serial and Jungle cat he came from. Fathered by Goat and mothered by Bellisima; just in case anyone who purchased wanted that info ;

I was very curious about Mikono's pedigree,
so I probed Taran a bit about Mikono's parents and where they came from. The parents came from two different breeders. I then contacted those two breeders and I eventually got the pedigree all the way back to the Serval and Jungle Cat which is what Taran's kittens are. If anyone who purchased from her is interested, I can direct you to these breeders. I can only assume everyone involved was giving me the correct info.

I would love this information Gina Marie. My Nala is from Saber (Taran's melanistic kitten) and Big Foot (her other fertile F3 other than goat).

Also, my F3 (called F2.5) little girl, is from Saber and Big Foot. So, since Big Foot is the son of Don Juan DeMarco, (An F6C) and Zuni an F2 Jungle Cat Hybrid, he would actually be an F7A... a cross between an F6C and a Jungle Cat Hybrid?

Oooh weee!

Okay, so Big Foot would be either on paper an F7A-- you are right OR an F3A if we were going with the Chausie option. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong.) BUT it wouldn't affect your F3 in regard to filial generation because Mom is an F2 Savannah. Is Mom an F2A or B?
