I'm excited for you John. Remember to post pictures of Elsa once she's home and the dust settles. You are going to have sooooooo much darn fun this weekend!

LOL... After the dust settles... I am already for her...

Note my "Cat Elsa in the Act Kit"

Cameras.jpg

2 GoPro's
2 other HD Cameras (the small ones)
1 JVC HD Handheld camera
1 Nikon D200

All the supporting equipment is not shown, but I can easily do a 5 camera shoot on her without her ever knowing anything is going on... When she is solo, she can still be recorded... I want to get one maybe 2 more of the new GOPRO's like the one on the Right (square lens) as I can set them up to record for over 9 continuous hours.

For when I am not home, I have 3 IP Cameras to watch her with on my phone or other computer via webpage or application. They are not HD however. I used to do professional Photography/Videography and now only do it for fun... And wow, am I going to have fun with Elsa... I already have a list of videos to produce :) .... these are memories that are worth a lifetime, and worth sharing... A memory is not worth much if you cannot share it, and I cannot think of a better way. With 3 cameras that I cam Pan and tilt on command from remote... I wonder how long it will take before she is aware of the movement and decides to play with them... Sooner or Later.... If anything I have heard around here, I am expecting sooner.

If you have not guessed yet, you and everyone else is going to be seeing a lot of that little girl growing up to be quite a lady (or spoiled brat!)...

BTW, Elsa to come home on Friday. Her flight is already scheduled. Just a comment from the previous post, I already have her Welcome Home Video in the works... Footage ready to roll... I am going to try to get it out Friday Night.... That is only a goal... Depends on what Elsa has planned. It is going to be a long hard trip on her, so she may be too tired, or she could be rested and ready to roll full steam.... I am going to try to coax her, but I am not going to push her... She will need her time, and I as you can tell, I can certainly keep an eye on her with out being on top of her.

I love your Avatar... Looks like you have a big talker... Sylvester was a big talker and we had a lot of great conversations... I certainly hope that Elsa is a big talker... From all of her pictures she has her mouth closed. One big thing that drew me to the Savannahs in the first place was their reputation for being talkers, and that is probably the only thing that would let me down as I miss Sylvester's talking so much.

Yes, Zeddie is a talker, that is for sure! My avatar is a photo that her breeder took when she was 8 weeks. I haven't changed it because it shows her personality so well, even now that she is an adult.

LOL John, I hope you give her privacy when she uses the litterbox:) I didn't know half that stuff existed and obviously wouldn't have a clue how to operate it. Can you recommend a video camera for me? Don't need a lot of bells and whistles and it has to be easy enough for someone with the technical ability of a slug to use.

To recommend needs I need a little more info... Will it be just for Home Videos, Sharing on the internet (IE Youtube, Vimeo, or other streaming site), or use in a professional environment. There are a lot of good options and some are very cheap, and some are VERY VERY Expensive.... My first camera was over 5 Grand and I had 2 of them... I have since down scaled. That center video camera is a pro camera that news is about $2,000. If you want to get your images into a professional publication, the cost goes up dramatically. For all of my combined photo and video equipment I am probably up over 20 grand... But for the memories it gives it is worth it...

For Stills, I definetly recommend a DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex) vs a point and shoot. I use a Nikon D200 which is very professional 10 Mega Pixel which can do posters very nicely. The lens is the important part on any camera however, I use what is known as F2.8 lenss meaning that for many low light shots, I do not need or use a flash. the number behind the F is the speed of the glass. The lower the number the lower the less light that is required before requiring a flash. Many pictures that you see of cats you will see Glowing Eyes which many times is caused by the flash. The flash is another topic all together because regardless of the lens that you use sometimes you will need one. Tricks of the trade are to diffuse the light, Reflect or Bounce the light, or a combination of both.

Let me know what you want to do with your video and or pictures. Keep in mind that printing pictures the Megapixel makes a lot of difference. With mine, I have shot full size posters with no problem. Just remember as in any industry... You get what you pay for and there are many levels to target with.

I know I got wordy... My Apologies.

I want it for home videos primarily of the cats and I want to be able to post videos here, Facebook, etc.

I will see what I can find and put together some recommendations for you. One thing that you will need is a YouTube account (it is free). You cannot post directly here or facebook, but rather post links and the video shows up as if it were on the site. When you first start out you will only be able to post videos that are 15 minutes or less... After you get so many and have so many views they will upgrade you. I now can post over 30 minute programs and that is a lot of material.

Watch video to learn how to create your account.
