Tonight I was playing with kitty, we were into really playing with small paper balls. Kitty was playing very hard, running, jumping on to the furniture and we were both having a good time. Then she ran under a chair that has a sheet over it that she likes to hide under. I lift the sheet up to find her which we have done multiple times before. Well tonight when I lifted up the sheet, she hissed at me. She has NEVER hissed at me before. It caught me so off guard I can't remember what direction her ears were in. My gut feeling is to ignore her, no eye contact to tell her that hissing is unacceptable behavior. The playing stopped at that moment. My question is why she hissed. Did she get caught up in the moment? In the heat of playing, or could it be a REAL WARNING for me invading her space. I want to be prepared if it happens again.
