Finding if a breeder is tica registered and uncertainty

I hate to say it, but being a TICA registered cattery does not IMHO guarantee anything except that you might get papers on your kitten. If you are unsure of the breeder ask for references, and ask here (or PM people privately) for feedback. Talk to the breeder(s) on the phone, read over their contract thoroughly, and ask LOTS of questions.

Ask for names and numbers of people who have bought from them. That was my HUGE mistake. He gave me the impression that he was so caring. I felt that asking or references was not necessary. WRONG MOVE! If they are hesitant ....there is a reason why! I have proof he was not caring like he professed to be. The kitten I purchased from him was very ill (even tho the contact stated n good health ) with multiple parasites and a virus. When I contacted him and shared the results of the PCR test he's response was I must of given her tap water to drink. I had not, she has a triple filter water fountain that had been running and in place days before her arrival. HE HAS NEVER CONTACTED TO SEE HOW THE LITTLE ONE IS DOING!!! Not proper or nice! Never feel like your asking too many questions or taking up too much of their time.

Speaking of recommendations....... Here is a trick I learned a long time ago. I was once recommended to have nasal polyp surgery. My insurance required a second opinion. So I asked the first specialist for the names of three other specialists I could visit for the second opinion. Took those three names and made sure I did NOT use them. I went to another specialist. I was treated successfully with medication. And 35 years later, I have not any need for this surgery.
My point, it may be a challenge to find appropriate references, but the effort has a high chance of good results, one way or the other.

Ok. So may I ask if anyone has heard of northeast Savannah's? I found northeast on the tica list. She offered references but I trust y'all's opinion too. I'm learning so much.

Kathy from Northeast Savannah is a great person, participates on this forum (is listed on the breeder directory), extremely trustworthy and ethical. Her stud is the father of my last litter and the litter coming up...

Not sure what TICA list you are referring to though...relying on a TICA list is just not the best way to go about it. That being said, i would recommend Kathy in a heartbeat...

Yes, I've met Kathy of Northeast Savannahs and she is a lovely person. Her cats were happy and healthy when I met them also. If a breeder is participating here and listed on savannahcat.com they are not a scam

Savannah's are in high demand and if you see someone offered as a great looking kitten at a super low price beware of the sales pitch, a lot can go wrong. Early 2012 there was a add in the Cleveland PD for Savannah kittens for $600 and at the time I never heard of a Savannah cat, but I was thinking of a Bengal but I looked up Savannah cats and they got my interest although the price went way up from $600 from the add in the newspaper . When I found a kitten that I was interested in and I called the breeder and she answered all my questions and health concerns and asked me about the care I could give the kitten and if I was interested in certain kitten and I was and which one, she told me all about the kitten and it's personality and I made a offer for the kitten to a good home but the offer did not insult the breeder or the kitten . Buying your first Savannah is hard, it's cat that is very demanding and pricey , We bought her from the breeder with a health and support contract and her cost was money well spent, even thou later we got a 4 month younger male for her to chase , Savannah' cats should sold in pairs.
