Girls vs. boys

For me it was always clear - always wanted a puppy girl (just prefer this gender in dog, and it's bigger chance that she will adore more my boyfriend than me as girls tend to do, right?) so in order to have my personal sweetheart in a household, I am definitely getting a kitten boy (I always prefer this gender in cats anyways, so it all falls into a place)
I can't wait to get my "demolition squad" next year! I am doing such a big research about savannahs, about catteries and everything that goes with it, my head is spinning and this will last for at least a year!..oh

I have always found the boys to be a bit more loving, not to say that our girls are not loving as well. Each and every one of them loves to be cuddled and snuggle right into you.

I think where you notice the difference, is when we are showing them. The boys don't really have any real worries, they look around, smell the girly's scents, but they don't see any real problems and enjoy their day out.

Whereas with the girls (it is their genetic make-up I think), when they go in the show hall, they are aware of everything going on around them, they are vigilant and looking around, seeking out any dangers posed etc - this must be the Motherly instinct, and then they nearly always come into heat

As for a choice of Girls v Boys, I would settle for a draw, as each one brings their own qualities.

I think maybe the girls are more independent than the boys (which can be more needy) but I also know that most my female cats in my house are intact while the males are neutered. In any case, every night it is my spayed female F1 and my F5 young adult female that are always crammed as close as they can be along with one of the neutered males...the rest can vary in position. During the day, I think I get equal rubs and head butts...just my neutered boy Baz is a complete mama's boy. His sister is also very needy but has to be living with the stud now to her disgust.

Showing, it can still depend on the individuals... my last show kitten has been a female because her two older brothers refused to be show kitties and she is the calmest I've had yet... she's such a diva I think she doesn't care about the other cats. I keep waiting for her to turn into a teenage girl and be awful to deal with but so far no. And I know Kelly's girl Bezus has been showing in Adult classes for months without issue either. I do think that less usual though, which is why at cat shows you tend to see males predominate in the alter class.

Aside from individuality, I find the girls to be the mischievous entertaining ones, and the boys the followers in their antics... and I do prefer the naughty ones

I've only owned two cats & both are female.

The siamese is the BIGGEST diva EVER. She does what she wants and doesn't care what you have to say about it. She is always off doing her own thing and is generally uninterested in what us dumb humans are doing Most importantly, don't touch her unless she invites you to, otherwise you will be very insulted with her annoyed meow & the immediate licking of all your human cooties! (she's such a little stereotype of her breed)

My other girl is a little calico (I should say big calico ) but she's 100% opposite. She loves to be carried around, cuddled, is super silly & quirky, plays all the time, loves walks, & always follows you around just to have company.

Since I've had two girls, & both so opposite, when I do get me a Savannah I think I'm gonna go for a male See what kind of personality the little guy will have!

Respectfully, I'm not buying this. I've had cats of both sexes be lap cats and all over you, and cats that are reserved. Cats are like that. It's their personality. Now personality is the strong suit of a savannah!
