Okay so I thought I updated this last night but apparently it didn't stick. So I'll type it again. :)

Update: Since friday Sabriel has not had any more poo flinging instances. She's been good since I cleaned her floor with an enzyme cleaner as opposed to regular cleaner. Hopefully it stays that way.

Also last night I was very encouraged by the fact that when we were playing fetch I went to sit on the couch and each time I'd throw it she would go fetch it, play with it for a bit and then come lay on the couch - drop the mouse near me and allow me to pet her. Then I'd see her start getting antsy (usually by her looking like she was going to pounce on the mouse or she'd get in stalking mode) so I would throw it and the process would repeat. Each time she would let me pet her when she laid down and she would purr and purr. I'm very content with this. I am still hoping that as she get's more comfortable or maybe as she gets old that she'll let me put her in my lap some and pet her but I'm just happy that she's coming to me for tons of attention. Now as soon as I get my upstairs cat proofed I can get some cat trees and hopefully she'll become comfortable upstairs quickly (fingers crossed). She will still only be allowed free roam when I'm home and can supervise her but I think that we're going a big step in the right direction by her jumping on the couch right next to me and laying down, letting me pet her, and then chasing her mouse again to bring it back to me... I'm happy. :in love:

It is a big step brandy...I really think that in time you will relax and see that she should just be allowed to be free...you will have a MUCH happier, less stressed girl! It is a long time for a kitten/cat to be confined...

Eventually she may very well like to lay in your lap and cuddle. I think you did not help with this when you thought you were allergic and avoided close contact. You were teaching her minimal contact and now it is up to you to try to fix it. Just remember they learn lessons quite well. Patience, time and love should bring her around. She is probably trying to figure out just what is expected of her;>)

So another update:

Still no poo - I think that issue is gone for now as it's been almost a week since the last incident. I think the enzyme cleaner helped whatever was going on. So unless it starts up again I'm just going to stop mentioning it.

Tonight she did what she did last night, with the fetching and jumping up on the couch with me and laying down near me. Only tonight she added walking across me to get to where she wanted to go. That's another plus in my opinion. I think if I am patient with this and keep giving her tons of attention and love that she'll eventually trust me enough to sit, lay, and even sleep on me (fingers crossed) as opposed to just next to me.

Now I did have one question, the way I've been sitting or sometimes laying on the couch is either sideways laying down or sit/half laying, or sitting up entirely. Whenever I go to lay down flat on my back she want's to pounce between my legs and lay on the blanket there - but then she'll attack the blanket of my right leg (the one that is on the open side of the couch). She doesn't have her claws out, she's not biting down, but she'll get into this frenzied little motion that looks like she's freaking out. To me it seems like she think she'll be kept from jumping out when she's laying down, or at least that's how I perceive it. Needless to say I only did that once last night and changed positions quickly. Then I tried it once tonight to see if last night was a fluke, it wasn't. So why would she pounce in between my legs to lay down, if she doesn't really like it there and just freaks out?

As I said every other position so far has been fine. I need to remember to bring my phone down there and get a video of it or maybe even just pics. It's so cute sometimes (well how she is doing it in the good way, not the part where she's freaking out...) I still don't know why she doesn't like me laying in that position unless it is her thinking that she'll be blocked from jumping back out but I make sure to stay still in those cases. I have made sure to let her do what she wants to do and not force the issue, I've found that the less I try to control what she does, the more she actually does what I want her to lol :in love:

Sometimes kittens are just weird ;) Mine like to lay in between my calves, but if I move they freak out...so there you have it

I call the freak outs, "savannah moments". My cats love to find a throw rug, or a towel, or a blanket , to attack and kick the crap out of it. I am confident that we humans do some things that make the cats wonder just how nuts the humans are!

I'm not sure it is true "freaking out" but more her making a game out of your leg being there and the blanket and her needing some sort of GAME to play. This is a high energy interactive breed and she's looking for some fun most likely...and your leg is "it" ;-)
