Hi folks. I figured I should give everyone an update. Rhonda went back to work last week. She's doing pretty good considering. I had major bone graft surgery on November 1st. They took marrow from my right Femur and replaced the 4 inches of my left femur that was gone. The surgery itself went well but unfortunately I ended up with infection in the left leg. As infection will destroy the bone graft, they immediately put me on some of the nastiest intravenous antibiotics there is. So here I've been since November 7th stuck at home with IV s stuck in my Pic line. No fun. I go back on the 15th to see if I can get rid of the IVs. If so I still have another 4 months of pill form antibiotics. I go back on the 22nd for x rays to see if the graft is still there. If so he will watch for growth. After he sees growth I will have one more surgery to clean up my knee as it doesn't bend near enough. It's been quite the experience! Lol! As far as Jax goes, he doesn't have much to do with me. He will give me a drive by petting but as I'm chair ridden I can't go see him. He has to come to me. He's such a s--t!

Glad to hear that you all are at least progressing and that is good news. Stick with it... You will be up and around before you know it.

Wow, that is quite an ordeal you are having to endure. I hope the antibiotics do their job and you will be able to get rid of the IVs and PICC soon!!!

Hi all! Been a while since my last post. Jax still doesn't have much to do with me. He is bonded severely to Rhonda though. He's constantly around her and on her lap. I think he just hates all the equipment that I brought home with me. Anyway on to me. Got rid of the IVs and PICC line on the 15th of December. Infection is under control now but I will have to take pill form antibiotics for 3 to 4 months. Went to the surgeon just before Christmas and took x-rays on the bone graft to see if it survived. Was happy to find not only was it still there but it is also growing! No pt yet but I can put 50 percent weight bearing on it. Moving along slow but sure. Still can't put much weight on it but I go back to Dr the first part of February. I look to start pt at that time. With a little luck I might be back to work by June.

I think you are right that Jax may be reacting to all the equipment etc and as you heal you will also see bonding with him... time makes all the difference with such things

Thanks folks! I'm sure he'll Come around after I dont need the wheel chair and walker anymore. Even though he's 2 and a half years old now, he is still very skidish. Even when he's on Rhonda's lap, ,the slightest camotion and he's burning rubber. I hope someday he gets over it but I think it's just in his makeup. He and I had a lot better relationship before my accident so I'm pretty sure that he'll come around once I get on my feet. Jax and Zoey

Wow, I hope you can see that the end is in sight, although it has certainly been a long haul!!!
Hopefully once you get back to being 'normal' Jax will start accepting you as a part of his inner circle.

As far as being skittish - I have a couple of cats that have been that way all their lives - one born here, the other I brought in as an adult. Some cats just seem to have a hyper-reactive response to stimuli and I think the best thing we can do for them is to keep their environment calm (but not boring!)

You are so lucky with your breeder - they have been great at keeping the photo's coming. I had one at 3 weeks and another at 4 - to choose my kitten! and then despite my pestering on a weekly basis only got one more - blurry one - at 10 weeks!! Never mind I am trying to make up for it now!!

You must be getting so excited and how nice that you have two weeks off to get to know each other I think there are quite a few of us who can't wait for baby Jackson to come home now!!! More photos please...
