Hi folks! I hope all are doing well. This great spring weather is really nice to take! This post finds things going well around here. Jax is back to his old self. (If that's a good thing!Lol) I'm still coming along, slow but sure. I'm walking now albeit with a walker or crutches. A whole lot less time in the wheel chair. I still can't put full weight on my left leg but it is getting much stronger. I can drive my old 67 Firebird now. A month ago, I couldn't push the clutch in but no problems now! It's been a long haul but I'm getting there. I think Jax is finally done growing as he approaches his 3rd birthday. Rhonda weighed him last week at 26 pounds. He's been there since last December so we think he's done. Rhonda calls him the beast!Lol! Better go for now. I'm going to use this wonderful day to mow both yards. Take care .

Great to hear from you Ambro! Your leg must be recovering quit a bit if you can handle the clutch of a 67 firebird!

I used to covet a '67 Firebird - still love them, I'm jealous!!!

Where do I start?!?! Haven't been on for a while as life has once again kicked me where it counts. Back in the first week of May I had to go back to the surgeon for a 3 months evaluating. I was having trouble getting rid of the walker as my knee would bend out to the left when I would put weight on it. After x-rays Doc came in for the exam and informed me that my November surgery had failed. The bone graft had not survived and with that the steel plate had no support. My bend wasn't in my knee it was 3 inches above where my femur is missing 4 inches and the plate was bending. So back for surgery again! Number 8 since the accident. This time he took out the plate and replace it with a rod. He couldn't do it at 1st because the top of my knee was too shattered to support a rod back in August. After 9 months to heal it's strong enough to support it now. So here I am, starting over again. 80 staples later I once again have a new leg. I can honestly say that I think it's finally fixed! It feels very solid now and I'm putting a lot of weight to it. Of course Jax is now just starting to except me again. That cat is the strangest being I've ever delt with. The slightest change in the environment end he's off the deep end. Anyway, that's where we are at this point. Oh,I almost forgot that Jax just celebrated his 3rd birthday on the 1st! Happy birthday buddy!

Wow Ambro. It is oddly prophetic that you named your thread the long road home but it is you more than Jax making the journey. Good to hear from you and I hope that this is the new beginning of good health for you.

Happy belated birthday Jax :)

Ambro, you are definitely a trooper. As someone whose never even broken a bone, I can't even imagine everything you've been through. Best wishes to a quick recovery, I'm sure you & Jax are both ready for things to get back to normal.
