Hi Paige,

Sorry I have no idea how to quote. I check UK websites every day and sometimes more than twice a day. I haven't spoken to anyone yet.

If you click on "reply" to my post, it will quote me :)

it may be better to start to make contact with some of the UK breeders as I am not sure how up to date their websites are...

Allan,

Certainly not being judgmental from this end, just having my hands in the mix of a fair amount of rescue kittens I certainly wouldn't by choice be bottle feeding one.

As others have mentioned, 9 weeks is awful early for a kitten. Once upon a time when I had my first SV I thought it was ridiculous as I didn't have any major issues with our first picked up at 9 weeks. However, we received our second kitten at 12 weeks and there was a vast difference in socialization and digestive issues. Certainly different kittens with different personalities, but just watching the differences in how they interacted with our older cats suggested that it was far outside personality.

Just hoping to help and better understand the intent of your breeder. Outside of the norms as I know them and just need introduced to the premise of their program. Most importantly, wanted to make sure your kitten was safe and a 9n week old without solids and no idea of what they were being bottle fed sent up a flag suggesting emergency care.

As John says, the difference between kittens in terms of their confidence, socialization, digestion and immune strength is huge between the more fragile 9 weeks and 12 weeks. It is the reason why most good breeders insist on waiting those extra few weeks. Most breeders are not doing that because they want the kittens to stay longer (although I can admit I might be one that would for most it would be more convenient to have them out of the house earlier!)... it is because the average kitten does better going to a new home at that older age.

So saying that, your kitten is lovely and is now eating well so hopefully all goes well now!
