Out like a light! Beautiful. I love the outrageous positions they find to sleep in.

I absolutely love the name!! Totally suits a melanistic savannah :love:

She is so gorgeous and I just want to snuggle her little face!
I always consider many names for my cats. I thought about Raven, Ebony and a few others. But I didn't think of Nyx until I picked her up and had her for a few hours.

So the stress from the move seemed to have stressed Nyx out to the point it brought out a URI in her. She has another appt to go back to the vet today cause I did some reading and read it could turn into Pneumonia. Any suggestions of things I can do at home to help her recover faster? I've been keeping the room she's in warm to prevent her getting a chill. but the heater turned off last night so it got a little chilly, turned it back on though when I woke up in the middle of the night and saw it wasn't on I've been staying in the room with her. I've also been taking her to the bathroom once a day so that she can breath in the steam while I shower. Can't tell if that's helping her breath better but she was more interested in eating afterwards. I think taking her to the vet is best because, though she isn't sneezing anymore, she has started coughing, her right eye is pretty watery (More so than the left.) and her nose is stuffed up. Sometimes she breaths through her mouth it looks like. I want her to get better as quickly as possible cause she's shown interest in exploring the rest of the house but i won't let her out of this room because the rest of the house is pretty cold.

The steam from the shower is great for that, but I would do it at least 3 or 4 times a day. You can't overdo that. You can also get Lysine to give her. Human grade at the drug store or one made for pets. For an acute flare up give 250mg twice a day.

I do have some lysine I gave her in her wet food but she didn't eat it all the first time. I nkow she isn't eating or drinking enough so I had added a little extra water to the mix which she drank up. I'll have to try and get my boyfriend to steam her to cause I work all day. I should be able to do it first thing when I get home and before bed though

If they have a stuffy nose nothing smells good so they don't want to eat. You can try stage 1 chicken baby food (that only has meat and broth in it) and heat it up a little bit to tempt her to eat. You can probably sneak the lysine in that. You can also try nasal spray for kids.

Sorry to hear that Nyx has come down with a URI although it is not uncommon for stress to bring on illness in a cat or kitten, which is why breeders stress so firmly the need for quarantine. I suspect the vet will give her some antibiotics which will hopefully help, the lysine and steam will also help. Sometimes it's just a matter of riding it out and waiting for it to run its course, just like in a human baby.

Ok, so my boyfriend took her to the vet. They prescribed Terramycin Ophthalmic Ointment for her right eye that is infected. Famciclovir, don't know what that one does I'll have to look it up. But I think it gives her an appetite. Looks like a pill I've seen before that does that. The last one I have to give her is Clavamax.
