It would be much better for her if you let 1 or 2 people at a time visit her room during Thanksgiving. And be sure that they don't talk with loud voices or make loud noises. She'll be feeling safe in there by that time and taking her out of there and putting her in another strange area with strange faces is unlikely to help. Really the best thing to do is not make too many changes to her environment until she feels secure enough to interact with the two of you comfortably. That means leaving her in the MB suite for as long as it takes.

It's possible that she will be your wife's cat and come to tolerate you but may not be particularly close to you. Even that can change in time. If I remember correctly, one of our breeders here, Brigitte, has a cat that took 5 yrs to become comfortable with her husband.

I would definitely not recommend putting her in a crate and plopping her in the middle of a room full of noisy strangers. I would totally restrict all visitors to her until she is comfortable with you, even if this means that she is sequestered away for weeks or months. The more changes to her environment the more potential setbacks you will have.

A cat likes consistency, so if you are visiting her in the bedroom then try to do it at the same times during day, and give her consistent play times on a set schedule as well. Once she 'gets' that she will be fed at specific times and get to play at specific times she will begin to look forward to these events, and this will be her first step toward accepting and bonding with you.

Thank you both, I am glad I have some good parenting advice to get me through it... It's 5am in DC and we are awake and watching her play and talking loud... She definitely likes our master bath set up better than our bar and theater room in the basement. I will keep you all posted.

Relax. She will come around. I have faith. Once she is comfortable, she will take the house by storm. You will be amazed at how quickly she will dominate the roost. When you say, "What was that noise! Awww come on. Knock it off!", then you will know she owns the place.

Sam, your little one is beautiful (what's her name?). Welcome to the wonderful world of F2s! I'm only a couple months into being owned by two F2 boys, and they're each five months old. One of ours is a little shyer -- Cappy wants affection at his own pace. We probably tried too hard to impress him when we first brought him home, and it only exacerbated the problem. I followed Rascaldad, Patti, Deborah, and Brigitte's advice to let him warm up to us at his own rate, as hard as it was for me to be patient. Now, not even two months later, he walks by with his "happy to see us" tail in the air, naps on the couch with his head on our legs when we watch TV, and sleeps between our feet every night. He still doesn't fancy being picked up and carried like Lucky does, but he is much more relaxed. I promise all their advice works!

Thank you Amanda, it has been pretty challenging with this little baby specally since both of us owned pets for many years (Just not a Savanah). She still doesnt eat food unless we hand feed her and I hope I am not training her to be hand fed forever. We are backing off and just giving her the necessary items she needs including play time for now. We still dont have a name yet lol we have not seen her true personality to come up with a good name and if I had to name her now it would by shyster lol j/k. This place is great, we are following all the advice lets hope she comes around soon.

I think she's well on her way to being a princess. For gosh sakes, she's got you convinced she needs to be hand fed. If that isn't royally spoiled, I don't know what is:big grin: So in recognition of that, here's some names meaning "princess".
Amira \a-mi-ra\ as a girl's name is pronounced ah-MEER-ah. It is of Arabic and Hebrew origin, and the meaning of Amira is "princess; treetop, proverb, or sheaf of corn". Feminine form of Amir.
Amira has 13 variant forms: Ameera, Ameerah, Amera, Amerah, Amirah, Amyra, Amyrah, Meera, Meerah, Mera, Merah, Mira and Mirah.
Jahzara \ja(h)-za-ra\ as a girl's name is of African origin, has the meaning "blessed princess".
Soraya \s(o)-ra-ya\ as a girl's name is pronounced sor-RYE-ah. It is of Farsi and Persian origin, and the meaning of Soraya is "princess".
Suri \s(u)-ri\ as a girl's name is of Hebrew origin, and the meaning of Suri is "princess".
Taisie \ta(i)-sie\ as a girl's name is of Irish origin. In legend, Taisie was a princess of Rathlin Island said to have been the most beautiful woman in the world with her dazzling blue eyes and long curling tresses.
Kumari, Indian origin.
Sarai, Biblical, my princess.
Zara, Hebrew, variant of Sara, princess.
Queenly names
Cleopatra
Dido
Hera
Jezebel
Juno
Niobe
Raina
Sheba

Amanda, I have been curios about Cappy and Lucky. As I am familiar with our breeder's kittens, how are the little devils? Pictures? Sounds like they own the roost. My boys do not like to be held much. But on their own terms, they will show their affection with greetings, head bumps, and bringing toys to be played with.

Sam, after this, the second Savannah will be easy!

Hey Rascal, I thought about perhaps adopting her sister as well if it will help both of their evelopment... I guess I am not used to a pet to be so distant and shy from the start and I really hope she doesnt become skittish for the rest of her life :-( patience will be the key I guess.
