I really like Walter Zapashny. He was from a family of acrobats and decided to become a tamer. It was very difficult in the Soviet Union. But he did it. He obtained with great difficulty tigers and came up with the idea. His idea was to work with a number of different predators on the circus arena - tigers, lions, lynx, leopard and other. No one before him had done this in so long. He spoke and wrote about it in his book "RISK, STRUGGLE, LOVE". I really love this book. And in this book he talked about your problem. Door Darting, or How I met your other cat.
Yeti has become something of an expert at speedily zipping out of the safe room door when I come and go. I thought Yuki was quick, and the little guy is getting faster with his legs getting longer. I am being extra careful not to crush him so that is an advantage for him.
Paz and Yeti have met several times now because of the speedy little guy escaping. Early on Paz was defensive and hissed a little, but has tempered that and been getting nose to nose with Yeti. Today Paz gave Yeti a quick headbutt before backing off a little.
The time before this one Yuki had also gotten out and I finally caught up to them downstairs with Paz standing his ground and Yuki not getting cranky. She saw the nose to nose between Paz and Yeti, and then Paz didn't run off when he saw Yuki. Yuki didn't growl or hiss and stayed back from Paz. She then came when I called her and directed her back upstairs.
On another positive note, the ringworm lesions are showing improvement with some having disappeared. I am still staying on top of it and sanitizing everything. So far Paz and I continue to be free of the fungus.
These SVs are hyper active speed demons that love to climb on, jump on, and otherwise use me as a springboard for reaching other places. I now have more scratches and scars than I thought possible. So if it is true that women dig scars then I'm too sexy for my shirt, too sexy for my shirt, too sexy.

My pretzels! Darnit! Get your own.
Even when presented a pretzel to sniff and deciding to walk away from it, there must be some allure to the bag itself that would draw Yuki to try to stuff her head into it. I kept her from doing so, but her attempts to do so were quite entertaining.

Paz is his hale and hearty self again and joyful that his voice is good as new. He has been very talkative for a few days now and tonight felt good enough to let out a really loud 'hello' as he walked away from the litter box as if to say smell that one bleepity-bleeper! He genuinely seemed proud of it.

Resistance is futile, I will be assimilated.
Consistantly persistant. That is a succinct way to describe Yuki and Yeti. They have grown tired of their confinement in the safe room and make a break for the rest of the house every chance they get. They are becoming vocal about wanting out and Yeti has taken to climbing me as if I'm a beanstalk because he wants to ride my shoulders around the house. They add something new to their tactics every day.
Of course all of the escaping means the familiarization with Paz is progressing at an advanced pace. He and Yeti are routinely greeting one another and Paz is delivering a headbutt each time. No grooming yet, but that can't be too far off. Yuki chose to go eye to eye with Paz last night on the living room window sill. I talked to Paz the whole time telling him he's a good boy and trying to encourage him to stay put and not cede his favorite place. He did back up some, but remained on the sill and Yuki eventually chose to back off.
Paz has decided that he is curious about those round objects that Yeti is carrying around beneath his backside. He must have a sense these are strangely familiar, and he just can't seem to recall why.
Yeti has to be where he knows I am close by. He'll even rush to follow me if I am going to another area of the house which is one of the reasons he is encountering Paz frequently, because Paz still does that often as well.
I was actually able to tell Yuki to go upstairs and motion in that direction and have her actually go upstairs. All of my cats over time have figured that out, Yuki learned it on the second try. Whether she decides to continue doing so is the real question.
This Savannah adventure is great fun and I'm glad I chose to undertake the journey.

Backsliding.
Had a brief encounter with all three furry demons in the hallway. Yuki ignored Paz, and in turn Paz hissed, growled, and tried to scratch Yeti, and missed multiple times.
I am shaking my head and hoping the two big beasts will stop trying to take out their annoyance on the kid.

Four legged brats.
Today I granted the SVs a longer exploration play period so they burn off more energy running full tilt around the ground floor of the house. It is great fun to watch these graceful beasts run.
Of course getting out the extra energy does nothing to distract them from getting into things.
I had to extract an annoyed Yuki from the trash can. She smelled the wrapper of the raw chicken that she missed thawing in a sealed container on the stove, and dove headfirst in after it. Curses that I did not have my camera handy because her back feet and tail sticking up out of the lid hatch was hysterical.
Yeti got bopped on the forehead by Paz who I figured out is ok with Yeti, and is just telling the kid his place. Meanwhile Yuki and Paz still don't quite know how things should go.
After taking the SVs back upstairs they were still somewhat riled up, especially Yeti. He kept running around the room, pouncing on and wrestling Yuki, etc.
When Yuki decided I needed grooming, Yeti decided he was going to get attention anyway and ran off to knock over a lamp and started his meowing as if he got hurt. Of course both Yuki and I decided to check on the little stinker and found him alright, hiding around the corner in the closet waiting to pounce. He tried that trick several times and only got looks in his direction instead of victims walking into his previously clever trap. He is going to be a real talker and smart-ass which will be fun.
On a side note: The tea tree oil soap arrived and it is excellent. Lathers up far better than typical soaps, smells potently of tea tree oil, makes the skin feel good, and is anti-fungal. And yes, I used it instead of shampoo today and Yuki still grooms my head.
Tonight they will get the first raw food for dinner and I will follow it up with a raw breakfast. That should give me a good idea if I'll need to mix it with the canned food or not.
And I didn't forget Deb, here is Yeti's picture taken half an hour ago compared to his arrival picture.
You can see how much leggier he has become.
