Now Presenting: Yuki and Yeti

Yeti goes in tomorrow morning and will stay there all day so they have plenty of time to check him over.

Just heard back from the vet about Yeti. They took a culture and will let me know the results once they come back, however it does appear to be ringworm (for the unfamiliar it has nothing to do with worms, it is a fungal skin infection). They are going to shampoo him and start topical treatment.

Now the fun begins of shampooing all my cats twice a week. Oh joy.

Picked up Yeti from the vet. He got lots of attention while there, but he definitely showed that he was glad to see me. He got a nice shampooing while there and phase one of his topical treatment.

I forgot to get his weight, but I have the scale set up at home so I'll take a shot at getting his weight tonight.

When I arrived home with Yeti I could hear Yuki loudly crying out. She apparently was very worried about Yeti being gone all day. She immediately checked him over as soon as he was free from the carrier and I almost had to push her away so I could get it open to let him out. Glad I kept them both because they really are closely attached to one another.

Once out of the carrier Yeti immediately wanted some petting, feeding, and play, alternating back and forth between these things.

Okay- ringworm is some serious PITA crap.

I'd ASSume it is for now- easier safe then sorry. So your vet is right to get you started on shampooing and everything. Seriously, if you could separate your cats while treating- I think that would make it easier, but it might be harder emotionally for you- LOL.

Do you have carpet in the rooms they are living in? Some vets act like ringworm is no big deal- here's some cream, here's some shampoo- but the fact is- those spores can get EVERYWHERE and you can be in an uphill battle to kill them. So if the room is carpeted, it's best to quarantine in rooms without carpeting and to then do a massive cleaning of the rooms they are in.

Good luck. Ringworm isn't a killer- it's not deadly, but it IS a pain in the tuckus!

Thanks Trish. Unfortunately the only way to quarantine in rooms without carpet would be to put hem in one tiny half bathroom. That might work for a day, long enough to tear out the carpet in a small room, but I would also need to refloor the room before they could go back in. I have not the time or money right now, so hard work will have to do.

Gave Yeti his bath a short time ago. Whirling blades of death is how I would describe his reaction. I am lucky to be alive. ;)
