IF the larynx is already inflammed and swollen sticking a bronch tube down there is just going to aggravate it more, and may even cause her larynx to completely close off. I would say patience is the safest choice in this situation, give her some time to improve then take it from there.

Hang in there. It is amazing what the prednisone (you sure it is not prednisolone?) can do over a relatively short period of time.

ok guys, I have heard you. And you are right rascaldad, it is prednisolone. Antibiotic is, clavamox. Her behavior is a little better. Can the steroid or antibiotic make her a bit lethargic? or would this be symptoms from her breathing difficulties? As I said she does have much more energy then yesterday, but she is not her “normal” self. I am starting to question things such as her eating styles previous. I've always wondered (its been years since my last cat) if her chewing and swallowing style were typical of any cat or if shes pushing things to the side of her mouth, almost as if her tongue is a barrier to the center of her throat. (but maybe it wasnt her tongue?) Anyway, I’ve been watching and listening to her breathe most of the day. she has begun to eat a little of her normal food this afternoon also., she has been finicky for at least the past 2 months. And I feel hopeful that we should be good to make it through the night without emergency. I have scheduled a tentative appointment at Angell Memorial Hospital for Thursday to see the specialists…. Lets see how tonight goes.

Please pray for our sweet f4 9 month old girl Anaya. She has been the lite of our life. She woke this morning and has quickly taken a turn, gurgling sound from cheat and unproductive cough. X-rays at vet show fluid in chest an around heart. No signs of any of this yesterday. We have rushes to the hospital and she is being seen by cardiologist now. We are praying. And need any help that can be offered.

Just catching up (been overseas for a couple weeks) and hoping to see an update today! Praying that the inflammation has subsided more and Anaya is a little more her usual self. It's so hard to wait to see improvement, I'm terrible at it also...but with inflammation you do have to give it time to react to the steroids...and before that bronchoscopy can be performed. Paws crossed here for a positive update soon!

Last night she had her dose of the steroid around 11:00pm and she woke me with a dry hacking around 1:00am. I left for work around 4am, my husband gave her antibiotic around 7am. she def seems more stabilized most of the day. I could still here some rattling in her throat area. Though, I guess, its not as pronounced as before. She did perk up when my daughter came home from school, and managed to eat a very little probably only amounts to 1/2 cup all day. (btw, she was weighed on the scale while in C.A.R.E. and they have her down for 7.7lbs her littermate sister is well over 10.7lbs)…. This afternoon she has had several coughing episodes, though not to the point of distressed breathing, that I can tell. I just gave her another dose of antibiotic. We have still have scheduled appointment with specialists at Angell memorial tomorrow morning. Hopefully we will get some idea what is going on.​

Thanks for the update, I am sure you are very impatient for tomorrow morning to get here so that you can try to find out what is happening.

I would not be so concerned with the weight issue, obviously she has been ill and in my experience once they bounce back they tend to make up any differences in weight. It is good that she is eating a little though! It's much scarier when they don't want to eat at all... best of luck tomorrow, I hope they can work out what is going on!
