If Shango is anything like Rafiki, he will need to be slowly transitioned to something. I don't recall many raw manufacturers using turkey. The hardest part is finding some available protein that he is willing to eat enough of that can have microscopic amounts of the future food added slowly. I am thinking that you are going to have to get some raw turkey - human food either chunked or ground - as your starter if he refuses to eat any of the Darwin.

Just an update on my picky eater... it has been a long 3 weeks, but as of today Shango is finally eating 50/50 ground turkey from the store mixed with Rad Cat turkey. He won't eat any of it raw yet, but I've been able to slowly go from all the way cooked to only about half way cooked. Hopefully within a few more weeks he will be eating 100% Rad Cat completely raw so I'm not having to partially cook his meals 3-4 times a day

Shango had a quick visit at the vet earlier today to get his rabies shot. He was a couple weeks past due since I had put it off until he was eating good again. He did go from 18.6 lbs to 18.3 lbs, but not a big enough loss for me to worry especially since his eating habits keep improving.

My Savannah Puma is running is my Maine Coon into the ground and I need to literally get him a running mate. I have been looking at so many breeders and reading testimonials and remarks I could find on tapatalk and anywhere else on the internet in over a year looking for my next Savannah. But I have also been watching Shango grow. And your pictures of him growing into his first year were the best convincing argument as to
where I would go first to see my next F2 Savannah. I'm pretty sure the last message you sent me confirmed it was Select Exotics as stamped on the picture. If I'm wrong please let me know asap as I'm going to contact them. Otherwise Best Wishes as you go through Shango's 2nd year and his new adventures. My Savannah Puma just turned 3 this year and just becomes more and more fun.

Another update on my picky eater... Shango is now eating 100% Rad Cat turkey (y) He's not eating it completely raw yet like he did Darwin's, but I have been cooking it less and less each day. I'm just barely cooking it now... more just browning it a little and warming it up, but leaving it raw enough it's still bloody. Hopefully within another week or two I won't be cooking it at all. Although I worry I may have created a monster who prefers his meals warmed now instead of cold like he used to prefer his raw. :uh oh:

Lmao, that sounds so gross. Why is it these "cats" refuse to eat their protein unless it is perfectly warmed up is beyond me. And we are all their servants!

So funny, thank goodness for this forum. I have the wet food to feed tomorrow morning, and if he pleases, some chicken in the evening if it is the correct temperature (insert snarky cat laugh here).

Shango is still eating 100% RadCat, but prefers it if his servant warms it up for him 1st. If I give it cold right out of the fridge, he just lets it sit there for a while until it's more room temperature before he eats it. For now I will continue to cooperate being a good slave and warm his meals for him 3 times a day  Perhaps this summer when it gets warmer he will prefer it cold again.

Here are some recent pics of my handsome boy

Mine insist on food being at "proper mouse" temperature.

What is that tunnel thing in the last picture? Love the lion! Shango is such a handsome lad!

It's the newest play cube I got him from Wal-Mart of all places. I always have a play cube and cardboard box out at all times since those are his 2 favorite chew "toys." Shango loves to chew around every opening on the cubes. He doesn't actually eat anything, just chews it and I cut off the pieces when they start falling apart or toss/replace when they get too bad. There could definitely be worse things for him to chew so I don't mind replacing the cubes since they are fairly cheap and even better the cardboard boxes are free and I always get at least 1 a month from Amazon or Chewy.
