The Armarkat trees are a decent product and what i would consider to be substantial enough for what our cats throws at them. The fun fur is definitely a limiting factor but it's not that difficult to resurface them after a few years.

I was looking for something with fleecy fabric so Cyro wouldn't learn to go after carpet ... though you do make a good point about it possibly not lasting as well.

Cyro will be much more inclined to go at the sisal wrapped support than the landing surfaces.

I'm another fan of Craigslist and taking your time getting what you want. The Armarkat trees literally broke apart with my F2 male, granted he was 29 lbs. Took a while but we found ours on Craigslist. 8' tall, base 4' square, weighs about 500 lbs., 4 levels with lighting through out. Had to add 6 solid wheels to move it around and about $50 in repairs, but we got a sweet deal at $100. They couldn't get it through the doors of their new house. Had to take out both sides of sliding doors to get it in and used a tractor to lift it.

Wow! Awesome tree Laura! Maybe someday once my life settles more Cyro will be that lucky (since I'm currently in an apartment, I think it'd be a little tricky to get something that big inside). Right now he's 6 months old, and these past two months his growth has been slowing down a lot. I don't have a scale to weigh him, but, I'm guessing he's probably around 8-10lbs ... I can still pick him up with one hand, but, he's definitely heavier than he was at 4 months. It does make sense you'd need a more sturdy tree with an F2.

I ended up going ahead and buying the Armarkat tree ... it's due to arrive on Friday, so I'll let you guys know what he thinks of it/how it holds up to his initial inspection :)

John, most of the time he doesn't attack his current scratching tree platform ... unless (as was the case last night) he's feeling ornery, in which case he'll run around the house growling, running up and down his tree post, and scratching at the carpet on the top of the post (he was mad because I just put up my Christmas tree, and was squirting him with water every time he started to go after an ornament) :roflmao:

That Armakat tree is fine and it will hold up...I have had all of mine for a year or more with four savannahs running and jumping on them...

You can also ask for the person in craigslist if they'll deliver! I went to look at papasans, fell in love with a zebra chaise and they drove it to my home. Went to pick up a fountain for friend and saw this huge lush chaise that retails at 1000 brand new looking and when I left, I texted them and they drove it out to me.

My fave things tend to be bargains like that!!

Awesome, Trish! Any pics of your zebra chaise? I would love to find one of those, too!

Great idea on asking the seller to bring it to you, even for the price of gas.
