what to feed SV kitten with diarrhea

My question is before breeders sell their kittens do they have stool tests done to check for parasites?

I believe they should, but mine didn't. After I got Havi, I took her to the vet 2 days later and she tested negative for giardia and coccidia. Was put on a round of metronidazole. Still had diarrhea after finishing that round of meds. So if my breeder had taken her to the vet she would not have shown parasites with the normal tests. I took her back and requested a PCR test and that's when the TF and cryptospordia showed up. Another round of meds. Back to the vet and another PCR, this time only cryptospordia showed up. She just finished her third round and still has diarrhea. Am dealing with a leaky butt now, wiping up drips all over the house. Need to wait for a couple weeks before I take her back for yet a third PCR test at a $150 a pop. She is due to be spayed right after Christmas. Hopefully the diarrhea will have cleared before then.

I'm ready to gather up all my bills and present them to him. And if he is a reputable breeder he ought to cover them. Or at least some of them. But the operative word here is reputable. He has more kittens advertised on a cardboard sign along the highway. So my question, does a reputable breeder have to resort to this method to sell kittens?

Be blessed.

When I notified the breeder of giardia confirmed by testing(this was before the PCR test results identified 3 others) comment from breeder was I must have given her tap water...... Breeder says only bottle water for his kittens.

I only give my kitties and me tap water but it is filtered thru an RO system. Got tired of paying for bottled water which is basically the same thing.

Breeder didn't take the time or the interest to ask....IF or HOW water was being given. Filter system is Senses produced by Hagen, I use the dual action filter with sections. Appreciate your recommendations. I just don't understand how kittens aren't treated allowing the parasites to continue to multiply . Claiming kittens are in good health. I'm new to all of this ......maybe it's just me. What I do know is I hate seeing a defenseless kitten, who I feel has been neglected progress into the state she is in now with not only diaherria but also passing blood. When she could of been treated early on, avoided putting her thru the trama of being held against her will and shooting AWFUL RX down her throat that makes her gag. it's just not right or fair!

Its a bad situation. Sorry about rx issues. We have an SV who will NOT take liquid meds easily. I parcel out dosage in pill pockets which he loves or mix it in with his favorite (but not usually allowed) fancy feast medleys. I am so sorry your dealing with this and I hope your kitten improves. Others on here can probably offer more.

NO reputable breeder sells kittens on a roadside with a cardboard sign. Your guy proudly displays that truck and sign on his FB page..sorry but he is what we call a BYB (backyard breeder). I would not even call him a breeder.

NO reputable breeder sells a kitten, telling the buyer that the kitten has fleas and diarrhea.

How soon after you picked up the kitten, was the giardia discovered?

As stated in contract within 3days kitten needed to be checked out by a vetranarian. At that exam I was given a vial to take in a stool sample for testing. Recommended by my vetranarian ( not the breeder) the next day test results were in. II was notified of the conformation of giardia.
