What's the "typical" size...

Yes, but the majority of the size is in the first year...they DO tend to grow for four years. One of my "virtual F2s" grew 2 full inches between when I saw him at 18months and 4 years of age. He didn't gain much weight though, he just got taller!

I think in general they get most their size, then they might grow an inch or two higher and then as they age they add some muscle bulk and "fill out"... but I don't think you can expect a cat to double in size or anything after a year of age. I don't think I've ever seen that...

I believe they are mature physically by 2 yrs but emotional development takes longer -- at least it did in my cats. I'll defer to the experts for the answer.

Kronos, my F5, is currently 10 months old and 12.5lbs. He is super, super lean, sometimes I wonder if he is too skinny but he eats so much! Surprisingly he isn't too tall, but his muscle is so solid he doesn't look very heavy but then you are surprised when you pick him up.

My Ragdoll stopped gaining weight by the time he was around 18 months (1.5 years) old.

Kronos is unusual for a Savannah then, typically we say the opposite for Savannahs...that they are deceptive in weight...people guess they weigh a lot more than they actually are. Usually it is because they are all leg, so tall and people assume that means weight but being lean and tall means they often don't weigh too much. The World's Tallest Cat (Trouble the F2) is only just over 20lbs after all!

Kronos has long back legs but shorter front legs... its weird. I will have to take a new pic of his whole body, its been a while since I've photographed him. I think his weight comes from his compact muscle. He really is an athlete!

My boy-kitten/*kitten will turn a year old in June. He weighs about 8 lbs. I'd like to know from any male F3 owners how big I can expect him to get. Is there a typical size for these critters?

With an F3 I this probably depends a lot on the outcrosses that have been used in the pedigree, but in general I would say an F3 will be the same size as an average domestic cat.

Kovu is the same way. His front legs are way shorter than the back. lol He is almost 7 months & is 12 lbs. We quit giving him kibble & only do wet food twice a day now cause he isn't as lean as Kronos is. lol Kovu's nickname is Lord Chubbakins. We are hoping that he might become leaner if we cut out the dry food & let him out to exercise (on his tie out) more often.

Size is not set in our breed. Also, Savannahs are deceptively light (vs. a breed like the Tonkinese which is deceptively heavy) so 8 lbs seems fine to me. He'll grow for a few more years, they are late developing, but probably will not increase in size significantly. If he is leggy and lean then he is to the standard do not worry about weight.

I have two male f3s. Same litter only 2 in the litter, one is 12lbs one I just under 18lbs.

I attached a picture of them together, you can tell the right (whip) is smaller then left (miri) so even in same litter size varies. Miri takes after his mom, whip his dad. You never know.
