Would it be better to brush him daily with a Furrminator to rid him of the flakes and some of the spores, or would I make things worse? I apologize for so many questions....

What you can put on him instead of tinactin is food grade diatemaceous dirt...it is much safer and many people use it for this purpose...the Lyme dip will not hurt him should you choose to go that route...I would not brush him...you will spread spores all over

Okay, Paige, I will look and see where I can purchase it locally. Rascal Dad, I just got back from the store and purchased two tube of the Lotrimin AF. Which would be better for Jinx? :)

Either one should work fine as they are both in the "econazole" class.

I wouldn't brush him or use the furminator....every time you bathe him you will be rinsing away loose spores and dead hairs and flaked skin... aside from the antifungal action of the ingredients :)

Okay, thank you Brigette. :) As long as Jinx is contained in one room, do you think bathing the dogs with the anti-fungal shampoo and conditioner will help protect them against any random spores that may escape when we open and close the door? I've continued to mop the hardwood floors with bleach and spray things down in the dining room (where the door going upstairs to the bedroom is) with Lysol. I've also received the foggers which I will do today. I just wanted to ask if since the dogs have little to no exposure to the area around the door if I should be worried. Thank you!

I think it should be enough. There is a limit to what we can do without going to laboratory grade infection control of course!

Be aware that mopping with bleach is not necessarily protective. The mopping is good, it will physically remove some spores but not as much as a swiffer cloth would... but bleach needs to remain wet on a surface for ten minutes to kill which I doubt is happening with mopping.

I don't now that there would be THAT much spores floating out the door... once you start bathing the kitten regularly and treating the lesions with ointment. It's hard to balance the paranoia... between knowing theoretically how spores can travel and practically what is most likely to occur.

Hi Brigette. :) I did purchase a swifter yesterday to sweep the floors (thanks to you) and bleach after. I fogged my entire house today and will do so again in three days. Thankfully, I have calmed down a bit (everyone here should breathe a sigh of relief!! LOL) and am trying hard not to overreact to this. Jon was about to strangle me, honestly. :) I do have good news to report!!!!! The spot on Jinx's back is gone!!!!! It does not show up on the black light as a glowing green! A small victory, although I will continue to treat it along with his other areas. One down….four to go!!!! When I see that his hair is growing back on the last area, I'm supposed to continue treating him for two weeks, right? I'm very proud of my little fighter! WE ARE PRIVILEGED TO HAVE HIM!!! :) GO JINX!!!!
