When I got the kitten he was 14 weeks old. He died approximately 6 months later. At the time F1hybrids was in Kentucky & we drove from Mississippi to pick him up. Michelle was no help at all & said it was my savannahs that got him sick. Luckily, we quarantined him & keep him completely away from the others. As soon as he got home with us his stool was runny and never cleared up. Was a big mess & we did everything we could with the vets to save him. We were devastated loosing him. My kids took it really hard. I have no doubt that Michelle knew. At the time I had asked about having him shipped to me & said that she wouldn't. Make sense because he wouldn't have passed the health certificate to fly.
I am so sorry you had to go through that, it really is heartbreaking. I had a very similar thing happen to me last year, different breeder though. I got my kitten (Kai, my avatar pic) at about 10 weeks old and only had him about 3 months before he passed away from the wet form of FIP. Luckily the breeder was good to work with and when I was ready about 6 months later, I picked a replacement kitten. My new kitten, Shango is now almost 6 months old and has been doing great and no health problems.
Getting a kitten from a more reputable breeder doesn't guarantee they won't get FIP. I do think how the breeder handles the situation is what sets them apart from the bad breeders. If I ever do get a 2nd Savannah, I would do things differently and instead of going with a big cattery that almost always has kittens available, I would wait and get one from one of the breeders on this forum or one they recommend. They truly care about their kittens and are there to offer support even after the sale, which is not always the case with the bigger catteries.
