F1 Bengal kitten

My F3 has rosettes and big green eyes but I also noticed that the end of his tail was bent and SE said his mom bit him there when he was tiny. I like the solid black spots tho, they look more like servals. They have an Elite F1 for sale on the website now......WOW...I would love to have him. He is priced at 23,000!

Nothing makes the cat 'Elite'- it's just a sales tactic. I guess I should start labeling my blues as 'Haute Blue'. LOL.

Call it what it is (not you- LOL- but any breeder)- probably a high percentage cat. Many of us would like a HP Savannah :)

All savannahs have bengal somewhere in their background as well as OS, SE, OC, etc., as they were used as outcrosses...most breeders stopped using Bengals as studs a while ago, although some obviously still do.

Rosettes do not look like spots as far as I know ;) Servals definitely do not have rosettes...

Sounds like your kitten has a tail kink...What the heck is an Elite F1?

Look, no one needs to pay $23k for any F1, HP or not...what is the point? It is just sales BS and unfortunately the public sometimes falls hook, line and sinker...just my 2 cents.

Kinks happen- Malaika has a crazy kink in her tail- we think Jack smushed her in the womb because she popped out with it! But it's something that should be mentioned (IMO) to the new owner! It's no biggie- doesn't bother the cats and really only effects you if you are showing/planning on breeding (don't breed kinky cats!), but it's still something that should have been brought up.

I wouldn't- IMO- discount for a small kink in a tail (for a pet- because they are PET quality and that may be a reason why they are being placed as a pet), but for a bigger kink- like Mal has- yeah, I do.

Yes, I agree too that no one should have to pay Select Exotics prices....I'm not trying to be rude but they are way overpriced ....I mean 15,000 just for a F1 male and more if it is a female, that's crazy!! I didn't even know about the kink in the tail until I went to go pick him up and I felt that kink and I asked them what it was. I paid 3500.00 for Newton too, I feel he should have been a little less with the kink!:( I also don't want Bengal in my next savannah too!

I don't think it's so much having Bengal in the mix as HOW MUCH Bengal, ya know what I mean? I wouldn't want an F1 if it's a Bengal x Serval. To me, at this point in the breed, there are sooo many nice SVs out there- it'd make more sense to have a SV x Serval F1.

Diane, F1's are expensive...just depends on the breeder, but $23k is way out of line...I have seen males from $6k to $15k - just depends on the breeder and quality and health of the lines...when I am paying that much for a cat, I want to ensure it is coming from healthy lines, where there has been no trouble in the past...but that us just me...now that is not to say that something cannot go wrong...there is always a chance that any animal will become ill at some point...

F1 breeders have put YEARS into having live litters and it still does not happen all the time due to the difference in genetics between a serval and domestic or savannah.

Remember though, that almost every savannah has a bengal in its pedigree about 5 generations back or less...
